Intellectualism breeds arrogance. That's why so many Intellectuals are Communist, Authoritarian and Atheist, they think they can control the world and they think that people are inherently stupid and must be governed without their consent. Also, Atheists have daddy issues. Which is why they grow up to become the ultimate daddies, dictators, since they never received the care from their father and believe that the state should care for them.
I can't for the life of me find the presentation which went through several famous militant Atheists through history and each of them didn't have a father in the home when they grew up, or the father was an asshole or too strict, so there was tension.

THIS, grew up without a father and was an atheist during my edgy 11-15 year old period. Then I got some more real world experience , wizened up a bit and I'm pretty much an agnostic now (seems the most sensible). I heavily favor Christianity over most religions though. Hating on Christianity heavily or saying all religions are equal is for fedora tippers.

That's good to hear, but to me there's certainly a connection.
It's not conclusive, but most Militant Atheists do have father issues. Christopher Hitchens, for example, had a rocky relationship with his father, who was a militaristic naval officer, apparently. Peter started out the same and started as an Atheist, but ended up turning to God later in life. Chris was a mummy's boy, notice how he puts his life in a less favorable light:

Richard Dawkin's dad was absent for years during the Second World War, Dawkins lived with in England during primary social development. I'm not sure, but I think he lived with his mother or grandparents for most of his childhood in England, without his father.
Sam Harris was raised by a single mother, he didn't even know his dad.

A greedy person will at most cheat people out of millions and be happy with his life. But the "altruistic" people, the people who wish to change the world for what the perceive as better, they will need billion and trillions for this and never be placated.
The man who considers himself evil and thinks only of himself is less dangerous to the world then the man who considers himself riotous and will do anything for his cause.
