The whole brothers in arms thing becomes the new part of your personality. It's basically the best way to get yourself in shape, change aspects of your behavior, and become a functioning member of society.

The fact that you are redpilled and can gain experience in combat is a plus as well. It's always been the go to place for the failed working class.

A while ago I applied for the RAF and was invited to watch a presentation. I learned that you don't do anything useful: lift weights, play rugby, deliver aid to third-world countries.
A slide in the presentation included a bullet-point which stated that one of the objectives of the RAF is to maximise the use of the taxpayers' money (I believe it used those exact words), the presenter admitted that he did not understand what this meant.
It seems as though if you want to sit on your arse and do nothing then you should join the military. You might be required to fix something, or shoot a brown person, but you aren't producing anything of value.

In all honesty the western world needs more entrepreneurs than laborers right now.If we could stop black people from acting niggers, and low iq white people from trying to act like black people, the cheap labor force would be easily replenished. Especially if the illegals and unwanted immigrants are pushed out of the country and the west takes a turn towards conservative values. Higher Tariffs are especially good for starting new local businesses, depending on the industry of course, but is overall an effective means to spur production.

What's difficult right now is that labor jobs are all being sucked up through globalism and the market isn't adapting fast enough to employ everyone as the new norm among the last few generations is to live a carefree and easy life. Every now and then we just need someone willing to sacrifice themselves for good of society in the face of adversity. If you're currently unemployed do some research online into different industries which looks like it has good potential to start a business under.

It won't be easy work, but you can provide jobs for other people as well as be your own boss.

You must be in a really shitty place in Canada. Go to the States, you'll probably have better much finding what your looking for. Trades here are pretty easy to get into since kids nowadays don't want to do trades work, despite the decent money to be made in trades. Their loss.

If you are slick, offer to marry a US chick for 20,000 for 2 years of marriage. Hope she doesn't stab you in the back.
>>
Why do I always hear this about Canadians? Why is your economy so fucked? Is it because oil?
>>
>>77878013

All are true. I have a bachelor in mechanical engineering and i'm not able to find work for 2 years now. Entry level positions don't even exist anymore.

HOWEVER, when I applied for jobs in the states i got way more calls and interviews (specifically in texas). So location matters.

No can do freedombrother. I'd love to work down there and get a teaching gig but I'd have to apply for an H1B1 visa which is the same one that poo in loos get while they steal American's tech jobs. There's only like 60,000 or so a year so it's not even worth it.
>>
>>77878308

Not only did low oil prices kill our economy, but the fire in Canada (where the oil jobs are) decided to finish the job. Seems like God is personally destroying this degenerate country.

The job market is truly shit.

My brother graduated last year with a BS in Electrical Engineering from PSU with a 3.0 GPA and still can't find a fucking job. He wants to stay in the Philadelphia area so that may be the problem....all the jobs seem to be down south. Still It's total bullshit though. Philly's a big city....most the jobs want experience, and won't hire a new graduate. He pain thousands, worked/studied hard, and PSU did literally nothing to help him find a job.

You are not alone Anon. Just don't give up and keep looking. You may have to relocate. My brother intends too after his wife graduates. He's also working a technician job like you. He makes a good amount (actually about or even a little more than a new graduate engineer would make) but is not happy in the least.

Engineering is not just for privileged kids. If you come from poverty, but are very bright and can act the part, then you can get into top companies like Google.

You'll find very few who will relate to your background, however, and it's irritating when coworkers joke about working class people, abuse waiters at restaurants, etc. Even just everyday, innocuous joking around at the office used to make me a little ashamed at how privileged I had become. Now I take it for granted.
>>
>>77874917
EE tech isnt a trade. Trades are like welders, electricians, plumbers, etc.

you fell for the wrong thing altogether
>>
>>77878425
Location does matter. Texas is hella booming with engineering jobs; especially in the gas/oil field.

My brother is in the same boat you are. Engineering is hard as fuck and its a big shame you guys can't find jobs. It's extremely rare to see a position for a graduate engineer. It's such a shame. It truly makes me angry especially since college is so expensive. My brother only owes around $17,000. It's a shitload of money but beats the average amount kids owe these days.

GPA does not matter at all after graduating. Don't bother listing them on your resume; no employer actually cares about it.

GPA only matters while you're currently in school, for the purpose of scholarships and grants.

>>
>>77880527
In his situation grades don't matter. Once you have a job, experience matters more than anything else. But no one is going to hire a fresh graduate with a low GPA unless his resume is otherwise really good or they just can't find anyone else. The people in my graduating class who had lower than 3.5 GPAs got jobs doing non-engineering work, mostly in sales or general office work.
>>
>>77880234
There is a HUGE teacher shortage in SD, you could definitely land a job here. Our pay for teachers is shit though so ND or any where else is a better option. SD is the lowest paying states for teachers salaries in the US, so best avoid here, but we would welcome you none the less.
>>
>>77880595
Nonsense. If you have no other internships or work experience they look at GPA. Some positions literally had minimum GPA listed for the entry level position, especially at the government contractor companies. If your GPA is low coming out of an engineering degree you better have something else on your resume that makes up for it.

I've basically lost all my will to do anything at all.

Without going into elaborate detail, I just...literally don't want to do anything, just sit at home, sleep and do nothing. I've lost all motivation I may have once had and now just force myself to trudge through school and work.

I suppose the exception to this is that I joined Search and Rescue, purely voluntary, which I dearly do enjoy. Aside from this fact and any independent studying I may want to do on subjects they will never, ever teach in schools ever in a million years (like spiritual stuff, memetic warfare and shit), I just...don't fucking want to do anything.

Surely somebody else must know this feel.

A friend of mine had the same type of problem as yours. His parents refused to fund his college studies but funded his 3 other siblings'. In the end, he dropped college and started his own rooftop fixing/replacement company and that was the best idea of his life.

He also stopped contacting his family, I guess he his still mad at them. Not that I blame him.

Yeah, I know. I used to go the gym fairly regularly, but since about December, I haven't been more than 3 times and I just cannot for the life of me muster up enough motivation, willpower and energy to go out and do it, despite doctors orders.

I think I'm just destined to die knowing the truth but never acting on it. I'm a mess, I'm a waste, I'm a big fat mistake.

At least I still have my /k/ hobbies.

We need the college monopoly to collapse and go free market. Government grants and subsidies are sending false market signals. The only degrees that should exist are one's that are demanded by the employers. The system we have no is so fucked up and it's literally fucking over so many people.

It's basically like a monopoly on who can enter the job market based on a license granted by the government. In a free market most of the studies would not exist and the one's that would would be more minimal and practical and only what is needed. When I have kids I am going to make sure they are home schooled or private schooled and I am going to tell them to not go to college unless the are doing a specific field. Otherwise I might give them money to start a small business.

All the money that is thrown at colleges could go to start ups. Sad!

I do think the biggest betrayal of the boomers was telling young kids that the only way to succeed was to get a degree. When I eventually have kids I am going to make damn sure that they know that college is one of many options. I hope you guys do the same. People's lives are literally being ruined because they do not know this information.

Not really no. I mean, there are some people I may chat with frequently, occasionally go do something with, but I'd hardly consider them friends on the level of trusting them with my life.

Never really had time for that after I found /pol/. I realized just how utterly vapid and BASIC most people are that they really aren't worth being friends with. I really do long for comradery though, bonding that lasts for a lifetime.

Guess I'll be waiting for a long time in that case.

Graduated EE with GPA >3.0 and can't get a relevant job. It's been almost two years and have been working minimum wage since graduation. I'm nearing 30 and still living at home.

You don't 'interview' to become an electrician.

You handshake with 50+ working electricians and ask them to call you when they need a hand. The more you've worked, the more you're worth. Same goes for plumbing, carpentry, concrete; you would not believe how hard it is to find sober builders.

Your main job is going to be producing evidence for legal cases between private parties. Lawsuits and divorces for the most part. You need to study law; consider minoring in it but most of your real knowledge is going to come from mentors and google. You need mentors.

Selling is everything. You're in the same boat as doctors or lawyers but people go to doctors and lawyers all the damn time. You need specialized training just to get good at networking. You need to be handshaking with lawyers constantly.

Your degree does not even matter besides specific cases.

What really matters is that inner drive. If you are willing to do anything to get to the next level and you have a strong character in the face of challenges then nothing can stop you. You will always end up doing well. Success comes from within, not from outside and from a piece of paper. The degree is really just a stepping stone to get in but from there it comes back to you.

Learn a rare, yet highly marketable skill.

Best ones are the ones that most schools don't teach, like specialized forms of industrial design, for example. Or hacking / related stuff. They're easy on your own too, all you need is endless persistence.

In those areas, papers and diplomas don't mean squat and you're not competing against thousands of paper-believing losers like you are now. After year or two as a junior somewhere, you compile a portfolio and be welcome anyplace in the world.
>>
>>77886534
I know that.
>>
So my family has enough saved so I can go do a college program and have no debt, but I got a GED instead of a diploma.

What are my options besides mouthing a shotgun?

I'm curious about the trades, but I hear mixed things about the trades job market, and I obviously lack the grades for uni and most college courses.

I was thinking of taking a two year Electrical Engineering Technician course

I'd have to do a mature student test though because I don't have grade 12 math

advice?

I'd also be willing to try other trades, I've just always enjoyed fucking with electronics and stuff like that

You could also embrace capitalism and become an entrepreneur.

All you need is to pick a trade/area, research it thoroughly, find a weak spot or way to optimize, and then patch it with your business.

And god, there's millions of those, once you really seriously start to look. Entire critical systems running on windows XP and software from 1994, lengthy stuff being done over phone (where mobile app would make tons more sense) and so on. The less common the trade, the more stagnancy you find in it.

Best areas are what young people don't really want to get into - like trade school educated stuff (electrical engineering also applies) - where true masters of the craft are usually older people and perfectly fine with stagnated systems and methods. This is where you can come in with a new app or service or whatever.
>>
>>77882400
That applies to fields like engineering, comp sci, networking, and programming as well.

What I have learned in BC as an adult:
1. It is a matter of pure luck with jobs.
2. Having a connection(family mostly) is the most important part for establishing a career
3. Great social skills trump over technical skills

Feels good being young and seeing the advice of slightly older folks who fucked up their lives so you know what to avoid.

From what I gather right now it's better to be a new business owner than to be employed by someone else. So I guess it'd be better to save up and rent out an office space or something and get some guerrilla marketing done to promote something and attract s couple of people to expand?

Or maybe one of those upstart online businesses? Something akin to uber?
Maybe an electrician shop? A diy business for people who want to build stuff? An advertising studio?

Feels god damn great to have a future ahead of you for avoiding shitty thug culture all your life.

The problem with self teaching is it's shit. There is nothing to motivate you. Most people (including myself) need to go to an actual classroom and have assignments and due dates and exams to do anything. If you self teach you can just do nothing all day because there is no schedule. Some people need that and it doesn't mean they have no will power. Same goes for online classes I hate that shit.

Basically you hyperspecialized yourself in a field that is already saturated (electrical engineers are a dime a dozen... should have been a little more creative!) and now you're at the mercy of the market. Trades work great for people who get into the lucky field of the moment. At least for a few years.
>>
>>77888668
then get out of the way of the rest of us and stop demanding that you deserve equal recognition.

HALF of the problem with teh current labor market is that lazy unmotivated shitheads claim to be motivated and hard working, and then they claim their college degree as proof, and they're indistinguishable from people who actually worked hard because the state intervened to keep idiots like you in school.

now the employers dont have any ability to tell who works hard and who doesn't.

if you can't self teach, you can't actually learn, which means you're stupid. cool. get out of the way. when smart people have the reigns again, jobs will be created, and you can take up some trade. but DONT pretend to be smart.
