to add to that, finding a job in Ireland is completely pointless. When you're unemployed, live alone or with kids and rent a house, your social welfare checks are generally the same as you'd get for working a full time job at minimum wage. But unlike having an actual job, the government will find a house for you ( free of charge and even sometimes give you money to furnish it ) pay 50% of all your taxes and rent and give you free healthcare by default, you don't get any of these things if you work. And also if you get fired from work for whatever reason and you want to have the ''looking for work'' programme, you will be paid far less

One problem here is that after having a temporary contract twice employers have to offer a permanent one. Which they won't. They willjust fire you and move on to the next. The construction and cleaning sectors are overrun with romanians and ukrainians.
Same with the elder care sector.
The manufacturing sector is dying. Everything is being moved to Poland or Romania. Therefore, no new unskilled "screw nut K on bolt Y" are being created.
Customer service call centers are being moved to Albania.
Basically the only low level jobs that are left here are the ones who are tied to the territory, like garbage disposal or driving buses and trains, and those are in very limited supply and hard to get.
Skilled jobs are also in very short supply - in my city of over a million people you'd be hard pressed to find more than 200-250 job postings as programmer/other IT professional.
As a result, competition is fierce, experience required is usually at least 3 to 5 years.
It's very hard for a young man fresh out of school to find a job in these fields.

Except we had full employment for 30 years all throughout the West when taxes were far higher and many industries were nationalised and the state actively intervened in the economy. Since the 1980s and neoliberalism the youth have born the brunt of unregulated capitalism's resurgence, as taxes have been slashed (for the rich) and privatisation has run rampant.

The German statistic is "kind of" wrong. There are too many of educated young people who can't find jobs in their field so they end up working as waiters or jobs that are below their skills and usually with a shitty pay. It also doesn't help that after half a year of working that shitty job that was only meant as a part time solution until you find something better, it will become even harder to find a proper job since employers are only looking for red line in your application and if there are longer gaps or jobs unrelated to your field, you will become unemployable after a while.
The low youth unemployent doesn't say anything about the quality of jobs or job prospectives, which are pretty shitty even over here.
