Not really. The demand is artificually, which means the companies in question are ultimatively not sustainable if they can't keep producing without it, which makes them government programs at best and parasites at worst.
The only real purpose they serve, is to leech of tax money and redistribute it through proxxy i.e poor people like mudslimes and the likes who are often times only allowed in for this reason, to the profiteers. Worse, they often take this money out of the economy entirely, as they move it out of the country taxing it abroad through various loopholes and stashing it away.

This clashes with reality in two big ways.
Firstly, we have unemployment above the structural level and that necessarily implies that there is insufficient competition over employees, which is a premise upon which the health of the free market hinges. If there isn't enough competition, you get price distortion - full stop.
Secondly, the economic theory of price floors suggests that in a perfectly competitive market at equilibrium an increase in the minimum wage should increase unemployment. Yet in reality, the increases to the minimum wage we're seeing at state and local levels are doing no such thing. So either everything we know about price floors is wrong (it isn't), or the labor market isn't a perfectly competitive market at equilibrium (it's this one).
There are a lot of ways to solve (or at least bandaid) that problem (minimum wage laws, government assistance programs, more powerful unions, economic stimulus creating demand for workers), and /pol/ is generally opposed to all of them. That is because, again, they get their economics from neoconservatives, and neoconservative is just a fancy way to say "corporate shill." Neoconservatives don't want you to earn a living wage because that's less money for their corporate masters. Neoconservatives want to cut government assistance because that means they can cut taxes on their corporate masters. Neoconservatives hate unions because unions take money from their corporate masters. Etcetera, etcetera.
The fact is we need to balance the power between employers and employees, and /pol/ is opposed to that because their economic philisophy is propaganda by massive corporations for massive corporations. Newschool conservativism is shit.

I work at CVS and have seen people with balances on their foodstamp cards of over 1,000 dollars. I've also seen people buy 20 dollars worth of junk food, then turn around and buy 200 dollars worth of perfume. It sickens me. This system doesn't encourage people to want to work hard and support themselves. Our government offers handouts to people and encourages them to have more children so they can receive more benefits. With each successive generation the cycle continues and keeps the left in power. The only thing keeping me from doing the same is pride.
