This has been happening in Brooklyn too for a number of years.
The city put a bike lane that went through the hassid neighborhood and the jews there went nuts b/c they didn't want free women riding through "their" streets.
They do all kinds of passive-agressive things, like park cars in the bike lanes, walk out in front of people on bikes, etc... They also chase people and throw stuff at them.
Eventually, the city capitulated and moved the bike lane out of "their" neighborhood, which is absurd, but not unexpected, given how special the city always treats them. It's disgusting.
