Eye witnesses are notoriously unreliable and many don't have experience with weapons and don't realize how shots echo or they just plain exaggerate stories. Wrong again. I would say the most likely reason the public at large dismisses /pol/ is because of the rampant racism culture on the board. Think of that what you will but the fact remains for most people the discourse here is just plain off putting and too uncomfortable. That's the primary reason, not people asking good, important questions and thinking critically about things. On the contrary, that aspect of /pol/ is probably the main redeeming quality of this place, the thing that would be most likely to rope outsiders in if they could get past the superficiality of certain posters using words they don't like, etc.
