Is speeding degenerate or is the government wrong to punish people for it?
I think 55, 65 & 70 on a long commute (2+ hours) can eat a dick. I can drive 85-90 easily without endangering anything except maybe a racoon or deer or something. Within more urban areas, speed limits usually make pretty good sense and only rarely seem too slow (some 25mph zones for instance can be pretty brutal).

There are several roads near my home that arbitrarily throttle anywhere from 35 to 60 on the same stretch of road for basically no reason. Most people usually do 55+ the entire stretch and I regularly see people pulled over in the more speed-trap parts.

Plan on either going to court or writing a letter pleading no contest. I've never had a speeding ticket in the 13 years that I've been licensed to drive. I don't know if the court cares, but I don't have a job, so the ticket would be a huge financial burden on me. Oh well. My state does have a "basic speed rule", but the stretch of I-5 that I was on had a SPEED LIMIT sign, not just SPEED.

some speed limits make sense, others don't. theres a stretch of road in my hometown that is 2 lanes both directions, with a lane's width dividing the two sides, going through a bunch of trees (no residences) and the speed limit is 50 km/h. If you drive 50 km/h on this road it feels like you're parked. Cops love to pull people over on this road.
Speed limits are necessary but in many cases they are far too low and actually make the roads less safe as a result, because you have a mix of people who will follow the speed limit, and people who will drive the speed that they feel is safe. If there is too much of a gap between these two speeds then the road is less safe than it would be if the limit were raised to a more reasonable limit.
