I've been to the "beach" where this happened. Really small and right up on the pools and rooms and shit. Pretty nice place.
IIRC there is marsh on the other side of the lagoon, across from the beach. Disney has their own wildlife and fisheries that do "hunts" for gators on the property.
Must be an active gator season for one to slip by. I can't wait for more gator stories this summer.

Gators aren't really that dangerous. I mean there are very few deaths from them, and most of them are pretty preventable: i.e. stop fucking with them, don't put your kid by a murkey lake edge, etc.
Alligators are actually lazy as fuck, they don't like to bother to eat big things, they prefer small things like snakes or birds or fish. They are territorial though, so, piss them off enough or make them feel scared and they might take a leg off.
