I remember in the early 2000's lumenlab.com had thousands of people with homemade 1080p projectors and homemade CNC machines, many of them capable of 3D axial routing capabilities for like under $1000.

There is literally thousands of polymers these days and there is quite easily well over a thousand polymers that outperform the strength of metal in various applications.

Polyimides are probably the most personally available polymer that can hit temps of 300-500 celsius and are available on amazon.
There are reportedly some polymers hitting 4000+ celsius without damage as well. A few polymers have hit the 7000+ celsius bracket. So plastic has gone way way farther than metals could ever hope to get.

Buns can be simple as hell to make. I have seem some ugly but very functional semi-auto pistols and rifles.
The aussies make "illegal" guns and it is almost an art-form. Those are full auto. You can even make the ammo. This shit isn't very complicated to learn. And the knowledge is freely available on the internet if you know where to look.
All banning guns will do, is disarm the law-abiding populace. The criminals will still get their weapons and will turn them on a disarmed populace.
