>Go to work 8am
>Work 9am-6:30pm
>Gym/hang out with friends/eat dinner/do everything I want to do from 7:30-10:30pm

Is this it? Is this what my life will be like for the next 40+ years? 3 hours of shitty free time a day and that's it?

I want off this shitty ride asap. Maybe in a few years ill just pack it all in and move to Pattaya.

In México there are a lot of chinese guys owning restaurants and livings like lords over here, you ahve your answer, amigo

No this isn't it. You'll get married and have kids AND THEN have even less time. Say goodbye to your weekends and most of the time after work on weekdays.

Just wait for a promotion or two, I don't even have kids and I would lill for 3 hours after work before bed. I'm lucky to get 1-2. Half the time I just take off my work clothes and lie down in bed.

Yes, work is supposed to be your life. That's why many people are so obsessed with careers. They want to do something they actually enjoy, and not simply work a job in order to get paid.

Welcome to the real world, friend. Trust me when I say that there is nothing more soul crushing than sitting in a cubicle for 8hrs a day. You will eventually start fantasizing about killing yourself just so you can free yourself from the shackles of modern society.

Well, honestly is not that much but if you save for some time you can start a bussines, a friend of mine opened a sushi restaurant, he hired people to cook and everything and he is making 7,000 dolars at month, which is a lot in México considering that he only needs 2,400 to run the place.

if you don't want the office life start saving and put a bussines, you don't need to know how to do it, you hire people to do that.

The trick is to get as many hours in the day as possible and maximize degeneracy.

I wake up at 8:55am and out the door by 9am. Get to work at 9:45 am. Do real work, and then start drinking air plane bottles of liquor at 11:30am. Take a 1.5 hour break and go to the strip club while I drink more air planes. Come back and do more work. Drink myself retarded the rest of the afternoon/night and rinse/repeat.....this isn't remotely a fucking joke.

I'm not a union guy, but at least unions in the west have institutionalized a day being:

8 hours of rest / sleep

I'm a software engineer that is very good at their job who works will others who are terrible. In about 4 hours of real work each week, I complete 40-50 hours of what other people do at my current location.

No Anon, this is not it and you must continue your wage slave life for a while (assuming your job pays decently), until you can invest and live smartly (I suggest real estate). I currently own houses in three continents which I rent most of the year, and can enjoy spending time with family and working on a low stress research job which I enjoy.

I was like you in your early twenties, questioning my life although I quit my actuary job in one of Geneva's top insurance firms, to experience life and find truth or whatever. I don't have paid work because I have two pensions; one from the military and one I paid into. Also disability coin from the government.
My injuries are not life threatening. I can't turn my head because my neck is full of metal - screws and plates. My kids are well looked after and content.

Everything I get is from systems that I've paid into. I'm a single dad as my wife died. So I get tax credits and child benefit.
I do voluntary work. I help sorting food out for homeless people.

My neck and shoulders cause me a lot of pain. But pain is part of the human condition.

Live it up now. Software developers don't have a long industry lifespan. Software companies are always hiring fresh new cheap labor straight out of college and laying off older, less flexible workers. You only have a chance to stay in the industry when you're older is when you specialize or always pick up the newest things (but even then, it's not really).
From your salary range, you're probably about working 3-5 years out of college. Not to mention an app developer, the lowest of the software developers. You'll get replaced and unwanted before you hit 40 (MAXIMUM), guaranteed.

And in reality:

6-8 hours of sleep
8-12 hours of work
2 hours of preparing for/relaxing from or traveling to work
4 hours of free time during which you must finish all household responsibilities such as cooking and cleaning

1-2 hours of actual relaxation, if you're not doing a 10 or 12 hour shift.

Don't kid yourself. Having a job feels like being a slave. People love weekends because it's the first time each week they can ease off a bit from the grindstone and take a breather and relax for real.

But forget even thinking about long-term plans, studies, projects or whatever. Work interrupts it all.

The wagecuck life is fucking awful and nobody likes it, everyone is sick of it.

I've got a 8-5
Wake up at 6
Drive at 7
Work at 8
Lunch at 12
leave at 5
Work stays at work, i'm not getting calls to pull double shifts, I might have to come in early when we are rolling out for trade shows, stay an hour late, but it is automatic overtime (Yes I work in a cube for an hourly rate)

Thank god i'm no longer surrounded by the high school mentality of Retail coworkers. Seriously, they could be 18 or 40 and they are still stuck in a stage of adolescence.
I'm recognized for my contributions, I can take a shit without being a burden to those on the floor. I get an hour to eat lunch, browse 4chan when in-between tasks. They aren't sending me home, early watching my 40 hour week turn into 35 and sometimes even 30 hour weeks.

I don't feel like shit anymore, yeah I might be bored out of my mind sometimes, but I am compensated for my expertise and I am treated like a fucking functioning human being.
>>
>>77191035
When your day includes an hour unpaid lunch break, a long commute and getting up/ready for work it really does start to feel like 3 hours of free time.

OP, shave down that morning routine and commute. You could go to the gym in the 2.5 hours you take to get up and to work. Less commute at the end of the day means more free time for you. You could also sleep less. Some people feel like they need more time but I function fine on 5-6 hours. Plus on your days off you get a full 18 of whatever the fuck you want.

First of all, get rid of your friends. You won't believe how much time they consume.
Keep going to the gym. It's a good way to relieve stress and build up those sweet muscles.
Never ever get a girlfriend. You wish you would be dead.
If you want to top it off consider getting a degree while you work. I know it's hard but atleast you still get paid and have a worthwhile degreee so you earn more.
Get a cozy appartment with a nice view. Everytime you wake up, get a cup of coffee, stare into the amazing scenery and yell "Fuck yeah I have the best life in the world"

No seriously, I do this all the time. It's fucking amazing.

Not specifically app dev, rather software engineers. My official title isn't actually app dev, more so of a Jr. Software Developer.

The company has so much in-house built custom software that they do whatever they can to retain knowledge. If you ever want a raise you threaten to leave and they throw money at you, because teaching a newbie the ropes is rough.

I called myself app dev because I didnt expect someone to call me out on it so hard.

Find something WORTH doing that gives you joy. Work becomes your favorite part of the day and your free time/hobby time will be devoted to your passion that is your work. Don't fall for the do a shitty job until you retire and save every penny to have fun at 65. You will wind up like a friend of mine who died of cancer at 55 after never doing much of anything outside of work and raising his kids. At least he had that much. generally it's a combination of childhood abuse/neglect, social anxiety, and a pervasive need for a rescuer

they're afraid to talk to anyone, break down when forced into a situation where they could make friends, and when they make a friend they instantly push to turn it into a relationship which normally results in being seen as a weirdo.

in combination to that, the current view of society is that people without friends/jobs/a degree/a girlfriend are defects, and most people rarely approach them of their own free will.

this ends up forcing the sufferer to go through years of pain until they either snap and kill themselves, or force themselves out of the house and into the world in a last attempt to gain recognition.

i was the latter, life gets a bit better but i completely missed out on most things people experience in their childhoods. i find solace among people in their 50s most of the time although i'm 28.

A person above the age of 30, anon. As you grow older, and everybody branches out into their own lives, it gets harder and harder to maintain friendships, much less make new ones.

I used to have a large network of friends, played in bands, did theatre and other performance projects in my 20's and 30's... and now, in my 40's, I know NOBODY. The last time I talked to anyone on my cell phone was probably April 2015.

The pay really was the only thing I didn't care for about that job.

It was a great feeling to wake up in the morning and not know what kind of shit I'd see that day and wind up laughing and joking about with the other rangers later on.

Part of the fun was using my analytical mind to study patterns of the shit people do and analyze their behavior to try and guess what would happen based off the events we'd currently be having that day.

It was frustrating as hell sometimes with the people I often dealt it but having a job that required doing a lot of people-watching in an extremely popular public park was incredibly entertaining. If there's one thing I took from that job it's that people can be real fucking weirdos.

i'm extremely independent and completely unable to stop and relax. i have to put my bed in front of my door and make the room completely dark in order to lay down and not move.

as for video gaming, no. the reason i didn't talk to anyone was because i wasn't allowed out of the house except to go to school, and i had to come back home directly after school or my father would put me in the boot of his car and drown me in a local lake for half an hour or more depending on how long i was out. i couldn't leave and the few times i tried to tell people he just put me in the mental hospital so i wouldn't be trusted.

and as for things that could make it even worse, definitely being forced to stay at home in an abusive situation. it changes the way you think and more or less blocks your ability to see that things could get better. you don't have any energy either so you can't do anything.

The whole point is that you actually improve over time, so you work 9-5 doing whatever, learn skills and become a professional (always work a career, never work just "jobs") and then as you gain experience you can learn how to run your own business, make your own investments and slowly shift towards making more money and having more spare time as others run your business for you. Preferably selling it and then retiring early.

Loads of jobs are just "jobs" there's little in the way of career path, get on a career path which is clearly defined so you know what you'll be doing 3 years down the line, then 6 years, then 10 etc.

Yeah, its not that easy to think up of another insta. You also have to invest in promotion, servers, domains etc.
Im thinking about being an indie developer though. Pixel art is easy and i've always been creative. Steam is a gold mine, even shit games which one can make in Unity in 1 day gets greenlighted and idiots buy them. 2D retro platformer or miami-hotline like game with good story could be a huge success that would set me for life.

This
The cubicle life can be soul crushing, I know.
I started the cubicle life at 20. Then after 2 years, I got fired for Telling the head of HR off because disgusting bastards kept leaving the bathroom a wreck (The bathroom was single use and bastards were: Not flushing, leaving asshairs, crud, and piss on the seat, washing their lunches out, shaving, brushing their teeth in the sink, and more) and no one was doing anything about it or being punished for it.

But you know what for someone like me who has no real profitable passion (Just 4chan, anime, fapping) its the best you can hope for, especially if its a semi-government cubible job.

Money was good, every single holiday off, day-shift, and if I was a real employee (I was student help) I could have got paid vacation and awesome insurance.

But now, I have an associates in Business (like I said, I didn't want to do anything) that doesn't get me dick, I still live with my parents at 25, I'm working part-time (meaning almost 40 hours, but less money) as a cashier making 50 cents more than minimum wage putting up with peoples shit every day, usually night shift, working every holiday and every weekend with no consecitive days off, no vacation unless I ask for it and it will be unpaid.

I want my office job back. Because I'm flat footed and standing all day, and have a discount on candy, I've gained 50 pounds since leaving my office job.
I used to sit on my ass all day, come home and exercise like a mad man, and be fine the next day cause I sat on my ass.

If you like the NEET life, love your office job.
You can fuck off for 6-8 hours when you get home, weekends and holidays off, great pay, lonely office ladies, and after 25-30 years, you can retire.

Pray for me anons, because I applied for a great office job this week, and if I get it, I can get out of this shit stage of my life.

>have easiest job in the world at a pet store

>get to see and interact with adorable doggos every day
>have mediocre but passable health insurance
>live about 10 minute walk from job
>genuinely enjoy job most of the time, corporate are out of touch cunts as you'd expect but the managers are my friends
>only make 15k a year

i'm poor as fuck, but I'm happy. Perhaps some of you should just take easy, low paying jobs and try to live in a more spartan manner?
>>
Not even that bad OP.

>work in IT
>have some weeks where I'm on call and get called anywhere from 1 to 5 in the morning
>lose sleep on these weeks
>also have weeks where projects are rolling out and I have to do even more work on weeknights and weekends
>have had weekends where I've had to work 10-20 hours

IT is pretty much slavery.

>>
>>77188362

Try starting your own company. You have zero free time and can only pay yourself for absolute necessities. On the other hand, you are in charge of your own destiny.

If you live off-grid in the woods, you'll be working day in and day out to survive. Depends on what you consider "work".

Of you want a cush life you have to make a lot while living simply and then peace out.

No one in my family has had a natural death in generations because once they can't be independent they go take a camping trip, then blow their brains out. Usually hide a note somewhere so we can file their death paperwork.

Saves on burial costs as well when the bodies are never found and we just hold a wake.

this desu. I'm 23 and am moving to LA soon (spent about 1.5 years after graduating school back home to save money, had an apt for 9 months to practice budgeting as well). Since industry jobs can be even worse than 9-5 I'm just gonna get a couple retail jobs as soon as I'm moved in and figure things out from there. My room is gonna be 570 a month (shares house) which is excellent for LA.

once I have income figures out I'm gonna look into the underground techno/house scene, make friends there and learn DJ'ing/production, and maybe give standup comedy a legit go since I've always been interested in that. If I get to a place of real enjoyment and don't hate my low wage jobs then I'll say fucking goodbye to wanting a 9-5 and just do creative shit. granted my opinion might change once I'm 26 and no longer have health insurance, but at least I'm pretty healthy

>Sitting on your ass
>Day shift
>Probably two 15 minute breaks, and an hour lunch.
>Probably holidays and weekends off and probably decent insurance
>Posting on 4chan so probably still in your 20s

Shut up.
Fix your morning routine, your commute problem, and maybe settle for 6 hours of sleep and you've got it made.
If your entry level too, then you'll probably be making $80K or $620892 Hong Kong by the time you retire at mid 50s.
Teachers barely make as much or more than you and they have to stand, put up with punks shit, repeat the same lesson 6-8 times a day, year after year and retire at the same pay.

I spent my last semester of school there for an internship, wasn't my favorite place but I was also mega depressed and didn't go out much, I am much better now that I've grown up a little bit. Plus all of my friends are there so my social life should get a huge boost, I'm much more interested in making new friends though. I just need to be back in a place with a lot of creative people, I kinda deprived myself of that for too long

Not so bad. I genuinely wake up at 7am and work at 8. Come home a little before 5PM and stay up until about midnight. So... 7 hours of free time per night.

Weekends are completely free.

I plan on staying single. I know from my relatives and friends that once you get a wife and kids that free time is gone.

Mail room. And for the same state agency I got fired from.
But the agency is constantly promoting people for just doing your job.
I would be making nearly twice what I make now (~$15 an hour), paid holiday, weekends or at least consecutive days off (they posted the hours, but not the says) dayshift, 30-60 minutes from home (60min possibly because its downtown and morning traffic is murder) awesome insurance.
I could go back to my exercise routine. And the company even has a wellness program, that if I joined it, I could get another $200 a year. The office has a small gym.

And both my parents worked and retired from there.
Dad got a buy out retirement, got to retire after 27 years.
Mom got full retirement, got to retire after 30 years.

If I started now, and followed the same path I could retire at 55 at ~$75k a year (With retirement pay being reduced to about ~$45K a year)
And the one thing I am passionate about is writing.
So I could write in my down time, and if successful, leave and live the NEET life.
Or I could suck it up, work there, marry an ~ara ~ara office lady, have 2-3 kids, live in a decent house in the suburbs, retire at 55, and maybe move to Chillicothe and die.

Please pray for me anons.

We all have boulders to push, enjoy the ride not the destination. You need better hobbies, not a better life.

Also, get better friends or a girlfriend, meditate so you don't have to spend so long asleep, enjoy your job more.

And absolutely ignore the slaves who wish to make you as miserable as they are.
