-Homosexuals are now largely accepted in the United States outside of rural fringes.
-Muslims since 9/11 (and even before, but not as intensely) are the enemy, the opposition and because they are perceived as the David against the Goliath of Christianity or even Secularism this heightens their 'poor widdle oppressed minority' credentials in the left's eyes.
-They are largely ethnically not caucasian. I'm not sure if gays are mostly caucasian or not but they have a large caucasian makeup.
-Despite the left's constant virtue signalling of globalism/internationalism they have a very minimal and utopian bubble view of the world. I was mentioning elsewhere the fallacy of believing that the ruling elite of a country is characteristic of the masses (With Afghan or Jordanian rulers providing condolences for the Pulse massacre) and is a repeat of our delusions with the Shah of Iran. Such as bringing up that while the Jordanian king is cool and is thoroughly Westernized his country is not and remarkably have one of the most hostile impressions of Americans in the world - Pakis and Palestinians hate us less than Jordanians do.
Naturally someone came along with anecdotal bullshit of how they've met hundreds (or was it thousands) of Jordanians with positive impressions of the US.
