Once you get around the $700 and up range with AR's most of them will be mil-spec. Meaning the materials and tolerances those weapons are built with are up to the US military standard.
Cheap AR's like a $500 DPMS are still decent rifles, but if you plan on putting thousands of rounds threw the thing parts will probably start to break.
