that second implication is thoroughly flawed. when a mass shooting happens, people rally towards gun stores -- to buy fucking guns. e.g. after sandy hook half the states passed laws, changed regulations/ordinances, or simply crowed how they already had the legal framework in place, to let teachers carry firearms in class. one state, already a liberal shithole, passed an "assault weapon" ban. connecticut, where it happened. and guess what? the noncompliance rate is through the roof. there is exactly zero enforcement of that law.
