When I took biology well over a decade ago I remember being taught that blue eyed people could only inherit them if both their parents had blue eyes. Well after researching as much as I could about my family's eyes I came to conclusion that it was bullshit. Has biology in schools evolved since then?

As far as I know blue and green has a 50% chance of either while green and green along with brown and green has a 25% chance.
>>76824203
That doesn't make any sense, both my parents have brown eyes. blue only comes from grandpa and great grandpa
some colours are dominant, and some recessive
brown > green > blue. tho ofc there are many shades and all that
the kid's eyes depend on the genes the parent are carrying. pic related
not very sure what we studied at school

Parents don't need to have blue eyes in order for the child to be blue eyed. A - dominant brown eye factor, a - recessive blue eye factor.
(can be Bb. I studied with Aa's)
AA - brown eyed person. This means he inherited brown eye factors from both of his parents
Aa - Brown eyed person. The dominant A factor always wins against the blue eyed a factor. This person inherited both factors from his parents. If he mates with another person with Aa, then their child has a 25% chance of having blue eyes.
aa - blue eyed person. This person inherited blue eye factors from both his parents.
Green eyes is considered a mutation, it's rare and isn't determined by parents eye colour.
Anon here already posted the image >>76824514
Feels very bad.
At least my GF has blue eyes, I hope I pass down my blue gene to my childrens
>>76824708
Woohoo I'm a mutation
>>76824708
Look, it doesn't make any sense, I should be AA by that logic if you go upwards my family tree
>>76824633
Look a non-islamic swede!

But my dad has blue eyes, my mom has green eyes.
I have blue/grey eyes.
All we know is, blue eyes cannot come from both parents brown eyes.
This is why blue eyes are generally a white trademark, since whites do not have brown eyes naturally.

It makes perfect sense. It's really simple - Either you're adopted or your mother is actually your stepmother
>>76824958
>>76825107
Wait no, nevermind. Your mothers father probably had Aa eyes and your mothers mother had AA, so your mother inherited the A from her mom and the a from her dad, your mom was Aa, dad too

oh i get it now, thanks
why are you dumbasses trying to reinvent the wheel here with anecdotes?

What's the point of this by the way?

Blue eye colour is not a simple recessive trait.
what's my eye color?

Why does that happen? I was born with blond hair and blue eyes but gradually my eyes and hair darkened significantly past about ten years old to the point /pol/ probably wouldn't even call me white anymore.

Anon, I don't know how to tell you this.
>your dad isn't your dad
Do you also have much darker skin than the rest of your family too?
Guess my race :^)

Not in pic: my right eye has two tiny brown spots. Only visible when my pupils are very small.

I have green eyes and brown hair, my wife has blue eyes and blonde hair. Both of my kids are blonde haired blue eyed Aryans.
Mfw my genes have been obliterated in a single generation.
Mfw I understand how the Jews must feel.
>>76827605
Blue is recessive you mong
>>76827782
No it isn't simply recessive you bong
>>76827727
You are the reason why green eye are getting extinct. You are part of the problem, off with you.
>>76827782
Exactly.
His mom can't be a carrier and is homozygous dominant as a result, though his dad is heterozygous. It's still impossible for the recessive trait to be the phenotype.
>>76827782
That's outdated science. Pigmentation is determined by many genes and some genes that determine skin color and hair color also influence eye color. It's all connected.
>>76827781
To be clear, I'm actually more of a grey with brown central heterochromia, as is my mother. My Grandpa was pure baby blue.
>>76826831
Blue and brown or just blue.
The only mixed eye colour that has a name is hazel (green and brown).
>>76826831
You've got volcanic island eyes.
>>76824048
Blue eyes are not encoded by a mono-gene, rarely any phenotypes are. Eye colour is poly-gene. Biology tends to oversimplify everything, as knowing all the genes that are involved in expressing eye colour is way too time consuming for an average high school/undergraduate student to learn
