No. They share no culture with the rest of Louisiana and are only a part of us to raise a finger a Britain because they used to own it. And New Orleans is amazing if you get past the arrogant créoles and the nig nogs.
You should try some real cajun if you have the balls for it. Though restaurant food in Cajun country isn't all that good, it still tops anything I've had in Baton Rouge (and I lived there for 12 years).
But if you come, bring some if your NE beer! If there's any reason for me to go back to the Boston area, it's go return to those pubs. Our beer scene is beginning to grow, but it's a bit too sweet for my taste because they use fresh cane sugar

eh, best part of New Orleans was the cocktail bars for me, did like the shrine of the Martyr, was only there for like three days so didn't see a whole lot, and half the time I was off my ass with cheap whiskey, have wondered though if the riverboat tours are worth the time
have always wondered why the craft brew thing is not bigger in the south, lately its been IPA's and other hipster shit up here
what weirds me out is that no one tries to make decent whiskey, we either get it from the south or import it from canada, we have all the shit to make it too
