This.

Born in 77 here. The 80's the world was a wild frontier of technology and innovation while Reagan called out USSR and basically treated them like demons until Gorbachev got elected and basically gave in to Reagan (who did bend a bit as well) for peace.

Everything was new and exciting from music to movies to the advent of cable television and computers taking off and shit.

90s...were kinda dull and PC culture started then.

It's all been downhill from there folks.

We do have better computers, phones and internet...but at what cost I ask you. What cost. Can't talk to people in real life, SJW propaganda everywhere, etc.

Fuck yeah the 80's ruled. Watch the CNN doc to really understand.

The 90s were the last time America was portrayed as predominantly white by the media. Muscular white men were still the heroes who got the hot blonde. Drugs were demonized and kids still had manly heroes.
Everything changed after 9/11. The kikes really cranked up the ZOG machine at that point.

It was almost exactly the same, but the internet was smaller and technology wasn't as fancy. Culturally, fuck all has really changed, except the shitty parts of the 90's (which was pretty much all of them) have basically snowballed well past the point of complete lunacy to the degree that we're now living in parody of a parody of the 90's.

Yup. 80's were cool, the degeneracy was kept the a minimum other than coke and aids. The 90's were pretty lame overall, only thing it did was give us the internet, and even that wasn't until very late, maybe 97, 98, 99.

My dad was a big tech nerd so we had a PC and a modem before everyone else did though so I did a lot of "war dialing" (where you run a program that dials numbers and marks numbers that return as a connectable site) and found some cool bulletin boards (think 4Chan anonymity in two tone colors) and a few other sites. AOL was gay though and all that shit brought us what we have today. It's good for alternative media, the cable and local news were the only game in town back then, so there's that, but overall it's far more depressing and boring in general.

Also 77.

80s were awesome to grow up. Then 90s came. It was not bad in the punk/progrock skater crew. But outside the dawn of ghetto culture was starting, the Girl Power feminism preached to kids began. University "sociology departments" morphed into SJW training grounds.

In general the 90s were so simple and easy that we let our whole society slide into the shitter.

So yeah, a shitty childhood with pretty good jerk off mags sent monthly. I just had to intercept them in the mail, which wasn't hard since she was never home anyway.

>>
Having lived through the full 70's, 80's 90's,00's

I would rate the 80's BY FAR the best.
Then the 70's. The 70's were very good as well.

I remember in 1992 thinking, we'll that was good while it lasted. I was in Sweden at the time and they had just brought in the first 5,000 Somalians the year before.

Life before AIDS and being able to smoke anywhere and bars PACKED with people every night.

It died out in the early 1990's because of AIDS. The bars emptied out. Social live's became much smaller.

Smoking bans were the nail in the coffin.
After that literally every last bar closed. From 100's in a city to 2 or 3.

I moved to Asia afterwards trying to find the 1980's, I did for awhile until the SJW's from the US arrived to teach the Asian's about the blue pill.

OK cool kid. You have no idea how unknown the internet was until the 90's dot com boom. It was LITERALLY non existent. We didn't even call it the internet back then, it was just the modem. This is from the perspective of a young teen by the way, so while, yes, your benefit of hindsight entitled you to knowing the "internet" was technically around in the 80's, the world wide web didn't exist, browsers didn't exist, etc.

What we had back then was very very limited and extremely unwieldy to use. Unless you knew the number to call, you didn't have the benefits of a search engine. So as far as I'm concerned, the "internet" didn't really exist in the culture until AOL and Prodigy really caught on, which was in 97, 98, 99. It's called the dot com boom because .com didn't exist much earlier than that.

The 80's were only good in comparison to the 70's, which were truly horrible.

Almost everything about the 80's was inferior to the 90's. The music in the 80's was worse. The economy was worse. The clothing and hair styles were retarded. The cold war was still going on. Movies... There were good movies in both decades. And Married With Children bridged the 80's and 90's.
>>
>>76693308

I saw "WarGames" a few times in the cinema when it came out. What Broderick's character was doing in that film was practically black magic to 99.5% of people in society at that time. To call hacking into a military mainframe "using the internet" is a serious stretch.

>Almost everything about the 80's was inferior to the 90's. The music in the 80's was worse.

80s music could be cheesy, but it was at least optimistic and white men hadn't yet reached the stage where they were constantly whining about how shitty their lives were (except maybe Morrissey and the Cure).

>The economy was worse.

There was a huge economic boom in the 80s, and a recession in the early 90s before things got back on track.

>The clothing and hair styles were retarded.

Only in retrospect. The 90s gave us piercings and the popularity of tattoos, plus the shabby grunge look while that lasted.

>The cold war was still going on.

That at least gave us some moral clarity (except for the SJWs of the time, who were more or less pro-Soviet). In the 90s Westerners were drunk on the delusion that it was "the end of history" and there was a lot of complacency about the dangers of the world.

You're talking about that grunge shit? That was really a west coast thing.

>There was a huge economic boom in the 80s, and a recession in the early 90s before things got back on track.

The economy started turning south in the late 80's, although it didn't get to full blown recession until the early 90's. But that recession was mild compared to the one that was raging at the start of the 80's. The beginning of the 80's was really, really bad. Stagflation was still going on.

>That at least gave us some moral clarity (except for the SJWs of the time, who were more or less pro-Soviet). In the 90s Westerners were drunk on the delusion that it was "the end of history" and there was a lot of complacency about the dangers of the world.

There were no serious, world ending dangers in the 90's. That was the point. The cold war was over. There was no moral clarity derived from the cold war, just faggots waving flags like it would prove who had the bigger dick while holding the threat of nuclear annihilation over our heads.

You know I have collected albums and cd's since the 70's. My 90's collection is small because the music truly sucked. there was Nirvana..and umm yeah.. that's about it
The 80's had Punk Rock, Early Gothic like the Cure and 100's of other bands like that, great New Wave and New Romantics. Hell in the 80's literally every single week 4 or 5 songs came out that you still hear today.
Motown in the 1970's blows away anything made today..
>The economy was worse.
Nope.. A guy could work at the Hardware store and buy a house that cost 400,000 now. His wife didn't need to work and he could have two cars and two kids. I know this because every family on my block lived like that. With yearly trips to Europe.

> The clothing and hair styles were retarded.
The 90's had what clothing style ? Grunge and that's it. Women in the 90's dressed to the nine. they took hours to get ready to goto the corner store. It was amazing how beautiful women where in the 80's.

Can't really argue taste.

But I can argue economics, and you are dead wrong. Real Median Household Income peaked in 1999. >>76693455

The economy in the 80's was significantly better than the 70's, which was atrocious, but aside from the one blip around 1990, it continued to get better throughout the 90's. In 2000 it started going south.
>>
>>76695735
Household median was higher because most families were dual income by 99. Did you not pay attention to the other part of what he said?

Blue collar single working parent families could afford a nice house, a good life for the kids, and fun family vacations.

It's not just about whole numbers. It's about quality of life.
>>
>>76694860

The end of the cold war led to safe spaces and hug boxes? I don't think so. There were previous periods of time without war and that didn't happen. There were other causes for that. But, even if it did, hug boxes and safe spaces are better than the threat of nuclear annihilation you dipshit.

>>76695202

It's practically the same, but without the media hysteria and with the added threat of a conflict with China. NATO and Russia are constantly issuing threats and deploying new forces at the moment, and a war between them is more likely today than at any time since the mid-1980s (especially if Hillary is elected).
>>
>>76689892

The 90s were good. Spent a lot of time outside but the games were awesome too. The music was fun. More innocent and simple times.
>>
>>76696217
What made us fringe was not being part of the mainstream of the generation. We all wore different clothes from each other and none of it mattered.

The "threat of global annihilation" is objectively better than the degradation of whole societies by cultural psychosis. If only by the mere fact that one was a threat and the other is reality. Many more aspects to that too.

The culture that tied us was freedom to be outside unsupervised and living. Our families were intact, we knew all of our neighbors. Dad was someone to be proud of and mom laughed at our wildness. TV or video games were for cold rainy days, not a buzzing colorful nanny.

Shit man I could go on and on. But you are a product of the non life of 90s -now. You can't understand something you never experienced.

The economic climate is such now that women for the most part cannot choose not to work. Don't give me that feminist talking point drivel. "Muh choices"

Is the merchant actively puppeting your words with his fist up your ass right now?

Damn you really are devoted to your own cage.

>>76696884

No. The cold war had things like the cuban missile crisis and multiple proxy-wars all over the world. We didn't trade. We didn't travel.

It's mostly just talk, now. We trade. We travel. Hell, we even co-operate in fighting terrorism. There are a few, minor incidents, like Snowden hanging out in Moscow, and disputes over missile defense shields and defense shield evasion, but nothing remotely comparable to the cold war.

And there is no threat of war with China. China's economy is dependent upon trade with the US. The US economy benefits from trade with China, but does not depend on it. The Chinese know this. If a war broke out between the US and China, China's economy would permanently implode. There is no threat of war between the US and China. China's military build up is aimed at intimidating others in the region, not the US.

I was born in the 70's. If you really believe that cultural bullshit is worse than the threat of global annihilation, then I don't know. Congratulations on still being fringe. I hope you still wear different clothes.

What the fuck? Can you read? I said it peaked in 1999.

>disputes over missile defense shields and defense shield evasion

These are much, much more serious than you seem to think. Russia is convinced that it is being encircled by NATO and by the troops and missile systems being positioned by the alliance in the countries bordering it. This is why it is developing new weapons systems, abandoning treaties and "accidentally" releasing information to scare the West, such as the plans for a cobalt bomb launched by submarine that would flood the Eastern Seaboard with a radioactive tsunami.

As for China, it is not committed to trade in the long term. Even now, more than half of its economy is directly controlled by the State. CCP commissars have stated that the amount of capitalist activity at the moment has only been permitted to allow the country to industrialize properly, at which time the nation will revert to an orthodox Marxist economy (which requires industrialization; the Party believes that a lack of industrialization after 1949 was what led to the disasters of the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution). The Chinese are not our friends, they are barely our trading partners (they are mostly cheating by suppressing their currency) and they are hungry for domination in Asia, a domination that the US wants to hold in check.

Enjoy your 1984 esq utopia. Bland nothin life where nothing challenges you to be stronger. Rather the ideal is to be as placidly weak and victimized by micro aggressions.

I'll take my fringe where I can hang out and skate with chill people who still laugh.
>>
>>76698130
The climate now is the same in that regard as it has been since the mid 90s. 99 was peak due to no more family life and a dot com bubble. Wheew progress.

Have you read 1984? Granted, it's been about 20 years for me, but I seem to recall a bit about permanent war between super powers being the excuse for government maintaining society as it did.

The 80's and *very* early 90's were the best.

Transfags wearing Che Guevara shirts and the current state of cultural Marxism, such as illegal immigration, SJWs and such-- would have been considered generally "unpatriotic" and even Communist or pro-USSR, which was the enemy.

We had pride in the United States. We were united as a people in the 80's and early 90's.

It started going downhill with after the fall of the USSR, but really tanked after the L.A. riots. The Clinton presidency and the rise of SJWs and gangsta rap. The popularity of gangsta rap, like NWA and Dr. Dre opened a Pandora's box of degeneracy.

Clinton's approval of NAFTA was the nail in the coffin for blue-collar workers and the American manufacturing sector.

>bit about permanent war between super powers being the excuse for government maintaining society as it did.

We've increasingly had this state of affairs since 9/11 -- governments massively expanding their authority in the name of "security" -- and when the economy finally goes completely to shit the US and its NATO allies will be looking for a major war to distract the people. They are already preparing for it, and the establishment media outlets throughout the West are currently ginning up a Russian threat to the Baltics and Poland to get everyone ready. Russia's economy is also in the tank at the moment, so they have little to lose, especially in an alliance with the equally flailing Chinese. The next 5-10 years will see Oceania vs. Eurasia/Eastasia come to life, unless wiser heads prevail.
>>
>>76699134

Was it "unpatriotic" and "cultural Marxism"?
>>
>>76698797

There was a lot of covert and overt sympathy for the USSR in the 1980s among the mainstream media, literary elites and college students, but it's true that most people were still pretty patriotic compared to today.
>>
>>76699285
no, because youre thinking of illegals with a 2016 attitude, back then they were just those brown people who worked really hard, and liked beer and mariachi music, and it was to provide the farms with cheap labor, pure capitalistic move.
>>
>>76699285

The 80s amnesty was part of a general cultural rot that began with the 1965 immigration act, but to be fair it was mostly the idea of a Democratic congress.
>>
>>76699597
amnesty was different than 1965 act, 1965 act pure strategic move to make the country dems, amnesty was just reagan hooking up his farm owning buddies

I was born during '66 in US, right in the middle of hippie movement. I grew up watching the hippie movement merge and converge into the feminist movement during my teen years, and then I decided to become a hippie feminist as well.

Everything during my childhood was clean and stable. We had barn out back in the state of Mississippi where my parents kept few stallions as a pride for the family. I remember those majestic horses as clear as the sunshine, and how they galloped out in the open green land. In '89 I decided to relocate to Canada and start up my own textile business, and got married.

I really do believe the song "Summer of '69" by Bon Jovi really describes the epitome of America era, and youth.

My piece of advise to fellow youngsters is to get married early because that will give alot of you the direction that you need in life

Thank god I'm not in this position, my mates are pretty good when it comes to social media while we're together. But there is this one cunt that is in the habit of being around and just spending 90%+ of the time telling people who aren't there that he's having heaps fun. I can't even imagine having an entire social group that does this.
