It's not like the US is getting any whiter. If the GOP restructures under any circumstances other than Trump presidency it will have to appeal to an extremely liberal and non white electorate after 4 years of clinton. I highly doubt that will be nationalist populism.

Even if they changed the party itself, it would just open the door to another Trump to run away with the nomination. All these people who voted for Trump won't go away and won't be satisfied with both Parties being "extremely liberal". All these "non-whites" and "extremely liberal" people would still vote for Democrats, they wouldn't suddenly jump to the Republican Party after it was demonized for decades by these same people.
