migrants make a net contribution, thereby providing more funding to the NHS and other public services via revenue collected through taxation. The generally younger age of EU migrants if anything means they most likely place a lower per capita strain on the NHS than the native population.

>millions being spent on just being a part of the EU

UK industry failed because of poor quality products, bad productivity, and outsourcing to outside the EU.
The EU has actually protected domestic European industry (including that of the UK) far better than the UK would be able to alone. In fact many businesses inside the EU complain of over-protectionism in the EU if anything. Not to mention the industry that came to the UK because of our EU membership.

No this is true, the number of people willing and qualified to work in financial services (literally no work life balance, totally cutthroat, high stress etc.), or just willing to work as farm labourers is very low among Brits. This is evidenced by the large numbers of Europeans working in both these sectors.
>>
>>76676084

Not that guy, but

> jobs
> NHS burden
> EU membership fee
> industry

Why are people (on both sides) boiling things down to economics? Would you not rather be free pauper than a rich slave?

If there are jobs unfilled, whether neurosurgeon or pot-washer, let them remain unfilled. Importing a foreigner is literally saying 'filling the job is more important than a Briton's life'.

Migrants make a net contribution... to the feeling of displacement of Britons. If there are unfilled nurse jobs, let them be unfilled. Perhaps the NHS will see sense and put more money into training native Britons, who are just as biologically capable as anyone else.

The EU (or EEC, as it was) oversaw the complete destruction of shipbuilding and coal-mining in my city (you may guess where I'm from then), in preference for inferior European coal and ships.

>because often they are unqualified or unwilling to do many of the jobs EU migrants take (such as city jobs in financial services, or as labourers on farms)

Yes, unqualified low skill jobs is precisely what I'm talking about you fucking retard. Jobs that anyone can do, that have been given away to EU migrants. It isn't the working class' fault that they are most likely going to end up with a skill set that qualifies them to work with their hands.
Can we stop this ridiculous "Wrok ethic is determined by birth location" babble please? Because if the same thing was said in reverse, that Poles and EU immigrants are lazy you'd rightfully call bullshit on it.

>migrants make a net contribution, thereby providing more funding to the NHS and other public services via revenue collected through taxation. The generally younger age of EU migrants if anything means they most likely place a lower per capita strain on the NHS than the native population.

Once again, "Muh GDP, muh Contributions". It's about population size you mong. Money doesn't fucking diagnose illness or create spaces in hospitals all by itself. All the people coming into the country aren't qualified Doctors or Surgeons. The NHS is understaffed, that is the main issue and more measly contributions from more migrants is not going to solve that problem. All about GDP and cold hard money with you fucking idiots.

>we make a net economic gain from being in the EU

An incredibly vague statement. Elaborate. What exactly are you referring to here? Are you omplying that simply by being a member of the EU we create revenue?

My culture though, is British. Always has been. Multiculturalism seeks to want to erode that sense of culture, place and identity we have here. I don't know if we can stop multiculturalism, but we can get off the conveyor belt that's heading straight towards it by leaving the EU. That's all I can do for now.

well we aren't slaves as members of the EU.

>Migrants make a net contribution... to the feeling of displacement of Britons.

you're right, we should base all international political decisions on feelings and other non quantifiable factors.

>If there are unfilled nurse jobs, let them be unfilled.

good idea, let people die, that'll show those bloody continentals

>Perhaps the NHS will see sense and put more money into training native Britons, who are just as biologically capable as anyone else.

There is a lack of people willing to be trained as nurses in this country.

>The EU (or EEC, as it was) oversaw the complete destruction of shipbuilding and coal-mining in my city (you may guess where I'm from then), in preference for inferior European coal and ships.

Shipbuilding is totally non viable pretty much everywhere outside of asia now, and leaving the EU won't change that. Likewise, coal mining just simply is not viable any longer in this country. Leaving the EU doesn't solve any of the issues you've raised.

>>76676841
Most farm labourers are eastern European though, and likewise Europeans have a strong presence in the city, these are facts. And many farmers will tell you that they won't see any Brits even applying for these jobs. How would you explain that?

>Money doesn't fucking diagnose illness or create spaces in hospitals all by itself. All the people coming into the country aren't qualified Doctors or Surgeons.

no, but the money pays (or at least should) for the facilities and people that do those things.

>The NHS is understaffed, that is the main issue and more measly contributions from more migrants is not going to solve that problem.

If there is more revenue generated from taxation, then more money can be spent on the NHS, allowing the hiring of more staff.

>BSE made a big play out of “nine out of ten economists” apparently warning against Brexit this week. The figure was based on a self-selecting Ipsos MORI survey of economists from the Royal Economic Society and the Society of Business Economists. But BSE had some fun with the figures…

>The survey was sent out to 3,818 economists. Only 639 (or 16.7%) replied, of which 561 said Brexit would be bad for the economy. That’s just 14.7% of the total number of economists contacted. So rather than nine out of ten economists warning against Brexit, it was actually closer one in seven. Not that you’d know that from their cheeky statistics trickery…

Not sure how reliable the source is

bollocks. I remember all of these companies saying they'd leave if we didn't join the Eurozone and look what happened. It's typical fear-mongering from the business elite. Trying to scare the voter into making life easier on them.

>If there is more revenue generated from taxation, then more money can be spent on the NHS, allowing the hiring of more staff.

How are you going to increase the revenue from tax when there are literally no jobs you dunce? When I say literally no jobs I mean it too. There are more unemployed people in this country now than there are open job spaces. We simply do not need more waves of random people coming into this country at this time. Nobody is advocating for no immigration. We want skilled immigrants.

>Most farm labourers are eastern European though, and likewise Europeans have a strong presence in the city, these are facts. And many farmers will tell you that they won't see any Brits even applying for these jobs. How would you explain that?

That's a single type of job that is probably not going to be sutible for your city dwelling brit who hasn't got the means to up and leave to the countryside. compared to a Pole who's just come to the country for the specific task of finding a job. Not a very good argument m8.
As for the ones who work in the city doing jobs that require qualifications. There's no issue there. That's who we want.

1. We're certainly not as 'free' as we once were. British democracy has been copied around the world and we were very good at it, especially Common Law. This Common Law can now not act unilaterally, that is undoubtedly 'not free' and in servitude to Europe, so yes a 'slave' to Continental Roman Law.

Political decision should equally not be borne solely on financial matters either. Allowing British people to suffer just so that 'jobs can be filled' is dehumanising capitalism at its worst. What have we cultivated this nation for, if not to care for its own people? We did not fight a millennium of wars to care for the French, Germans, or Turks; we fought to take care of the needs and wants of Britons.

People will not die, due to a minor shortage of nurses or doctors; we ran the NHS before the EU, and rather well too, doctors and politicians here can just as well deal with hiring and training native Britons in time.

There is also a severe lack of teachers (which I am). There is no lack of will - it is a rather 'noble' profession, as is doctoring/nursing. The lack of teachers/doctors/nurses is down to the shit pay and conditions.

*Why* is shipbuilding and coal-mining unviable? Why is the creation of something, from a literal hole in the ground into tangible value, every unprofitable? Because politicians/economists make it so. There are primary wealth creation industries and are never, ever fundamentally unviable. Your argument is totally flawed here.

>>76677462
As our economy was years and years ago, yes. But as it has grown and recessed, and the composition of our economy changed, in particular in relation to demand, supply, cost and competition, that is how it stands today. We can't just go back in time, nor can we conjure up over a decade of economic hypotheticals looking to the past.

>>76678013

>british business want to import people already qualified because it's cheaper than actually offering training.

so we should drive up costs for businesses and make Britain struggle to be internationally competitive? If educated people are leaving other countries and coming here, that's in Britain's interests.

>>76678092
Yeah all the non-arguments on both sides are just hilarious desu, especially when there are valid ones on both sides being ignored.

>>76678359
You don't need economists to tell you Brexit is bad for the economy; everything else aside, if we leave, there will be uncertainty. Most investors (domestic at least, I couldn't offer educated comment on foreign) don't like uncertainty, and as such will invest less for the 2 or so years following a Brexit while trade deals are negotiated and things are still up in the air. This will in turn weaken our economy, and as such our position when negotiating trade agreements, over those 2 years, in turn again weakening the economy going forwards beyond that.

>>76678448
>It's typical fear-mongering from the business elite.

The eurozone was never as critical, if at all integral I would imagine, to their business model as single market access. To leave the single market is to doom the long term security of those jobs. I mean shit, they only built factories in the UK because of single market access in the first place.

Pretty much, Netherlands and Belgium etc don't have their own nukes but are NATO members, who have NATO nukes stationed there, if Germany wanted to get funny again NATO would step in.

If a NATO member attacks another NATO member NATO step in, if a Non-NATO member attacks a NATO member all of NATO steps in, if needed

The downside to that nuclear security/stationing is the Russians etc make your country a higher priority in the event of war

Do you really think a few tariffs are going to cause them to abandon their business in the UK? The EU probably would do everything they could to prevent anything like that from happening anyway, including giving us an exceptionally good trade deal to keep those companies based in Britain. In the event of a Brexit we'd become Europe's biggest trading partner immediately, they'd need us to survive.
It's honestly going to be so funny if Brexit happens and all this "We'll just be like Norway" nonsense gets blown the fuck out.

An independent UK would have more control on the EU than the EU would have over it.

True, which is an other reaosn we should leave the EU. They are one of the main antagonists against Russia with trying to expand and include more of eastern europe, along with NATO.

And Russia's interest lie almost entirely in the middle east and around their borders. We are pretty much off the radar for them as far as their ambitions are concerned.

I agree, but disagree; matters of finance and economy dictate so strongly on social factors, that to not place it as the primary concern is not just to place finance itself as such, but all issues. More money would mean more to spend on the people and public services of Britain.

Yeah that's probably true, I guess the Russian heirachy still think their way is the best way,

Things were taking a turn for the better after Reagan/Gorbachev and the fall of the USSR but lately there has been another Russian/American/EU rift and have become more isolationist again and things have taken a step back, pretty much due to NATO poking its nose into the Middle east, trying to remove one of Russias few allies and Ukraine sanctions etc.

And so the cycle continues

How does that disprove what I said at all? I said that there were more unemployed people than there were jobs. A small increase in employment does not disprove that.

>and it's also one of the biggest employers of eastern europeans; hence, it is not taking jobs that would otherwise have been taken by Brit citizens. That also links on nicely to the fact that, as you say, geographical unemployment is also a reason why there are many employed e. euros vs brits; again, not "taking" jobs.

Just because a lot of EU migrants find work in that area, that does not mean that that's where most of them end up. Say 100% of farm workers were Poles, and there are 2,000 of them at any one time. But then 50% are Bricklayers and there's 8,000 of them at any given time. There would be more Poles working as bricklayers, in an area that would usually be the bread and butter of Working Class Britons "Taking their jobs" so to speak.

>in that case, why is a migrant coming over and doing such a job a problem then? Also this exposes issues with govt. social support policy and efficiency more than anything, but that's another argument about domestic politics for another day!

Because jobs in the city require a certain skillset that can't be achieved by any man off the street like a building job can be. If people are doing work in skilled fields then we don't care where they come from.

Rome invaded Greece, yes, but more out of a kind of 'I love you so much, I want to bite you' kind of thing.

Rome had a massive knob on for Greece, and had them for teachers of their children, and loved their language, as they thought the Greeks were the most cultured in the world.

Kind of like how Europe loves Britain *too* much, and Britons suffers.

Mae'r bleidlais yn bwysig iawn. Mae'n penderfynu ein dyfodol.
Mae fy merch yn awr yn ddeunaw a all bleidleisio. Rwy'n ceisio i adael iddi wneud ei ddewis heb unrhyw ddylanwad oddi wrthyf. Ond mae hi'n gwybod fy marn i.

She will probably vote to remain. As long as she uses her right to vote, then that's ok with me. She's excited about voting and asks me how to do it. I just tell her to read the question and place a cross next to her choice.

Where in Wales are you? Anglesey here.

Rwy'n gobeithio y maent yn 'gadael' enillion bleidlais.

continued from my other post.

>we ran the NHS before the EU, and rather well too

I'm not going to get into a discussion about healthcare because it's a whole new kettle of fish and I'm off to bed soon, but to be brief; leaving the EU means less money, and so less money for the NHS, which is bad for healthcare.

>The lack of teachers/doctors/nurses is down to the shit pay and conditions.

exactly. In jobs with shit pay and conditions, brits are, in some cases, not willing to do them, whereas migrant workers are. A problem in itself, but migration is not the issue here, domestic govt attitudes and policy are.

>*Why* is shipbuilding and coal-mining unviable?

international competition, and in particular in coal the low levels of coal vs cost of extraction vs market value. On shipbuilding there are countries that can do it much, much cheaper and to the same or higher quality. We can't compete unless we start paying workers Chinese or Korean tier wages, which obviously isn't possible. Similar coal mining, but that's also impacted by as I say, resource availability and environmental factors as well.

>There are primary wealth creation industries and are never, ever fundamentally unviable.

Untrue. If someone can choose two high quality ships, one from the UK and one from Korea, but the Korean one is cheaper, no one sane will ever choose the UK ship. And as I say above, same with coal. We cannot compete internationally.

>>76679363
No. I'm not going to analyse the global economic changes over the last 15 or so years and how they impact the UK right now because my bed is calling, but no, it's way more than that, in particular the recession and the background regarding that.

>>76679479
Economic arguments all have social implications. If we have no money, that means no money to spend on healthcare or other public services. It's not the economic impact alone, it's the social impact it entails.

There's a lot of peer pressure and misinformation. I think a lot of youths have an idealised or romanticised view of the EU, as a progressive paradise and not a bureaucratic mess. One peer of mine totally dismissed the Brexit side as "right wing nonsense", and gushed over how Jeremy Corbyn wants us to stay. It's sad what the internet generation believes in.

I'm living on coastal Gwynedd, on Cardigan Bay. People my age who tend to be siding with me on Leave are people like me from families that own their own businesses, who come from families of employers and people who pay quite a bit of taxes and work hard, including my gf and one of my best friends

>leaving the EU means less money, and so less money for the NHS, which is bad for healthcare.

With all due respect, Our NHS is already overstretched, our police stations/prisons are closing down, overstreched, our Libraries are closing down, civil services street cleaning, road servicing etc are cut back etc etc

And this is whilst were in the EU utopia, I fail to see how allowing uncontrolled migrancy into this country will help and it is uncontroled, Cameron already said on live TV "there is no forecast to the amount of immigrants expected here" he doesn't know or isn't willing to say.

>Do you really think a few tariffs are going to cause them to abandon their business in the UK?

they've said so themselves

and also yes, even if they hadn't said so about leaving, tariffs are the reason they built them here to begin with.

>The EU probably would do everything they could to prevent anything like that from happening anyway

The EU would do everything it could to get them to relocate those jobs and that investment to operations in the EU, it would be in their interests to do so.

>The EU probably would do everything they could to prevent anything like that from happening anyway, including giving us an exceptionally good trade deal to keep those companies based in Britain. In the event of a Brexit we'd become Europe's biggest trading partner immediately, they'd need us to survive.

this is just speculation. Beyond being very confident that investor confidence and as such investment will take a hit immediately post brexit and in the following 2 years, I can't comment, especially with how much of that is dependent on domestic political factors in the member states, of which I have little understanding.

Also, it might interest you to know that Wales was zealously loyal to its latin masters even in the Medieval period. The English were considered primitive nigger invaders and the Welsh saw themselves as the only true Britons.

So many remain arguments rely on pointing to EU unrelated problems and saying that they will happen if we leave the EU.

Its like on QT, Izzard was saying that eaving the EU would cause a recession and pointing to 2008 as an example. Well what did the EU do to stop the last recession? Fuck all.
He decried austerity whilst forgetting that the EU forced austerity on Greece.
