A lot of people have been talking about the Mandela effect lately

Do people have valid points or are they just dumbfuck autists who can't remember things correctly
>>
pls no

this scares me. I specifically remember chic-fil-a
>>
It was always chic-fil-a

However Nelson Mandela did die in prison in the mid eighties, I have it on VCR at my mom's house

I had a weird one the other day. I always though Fathers day and Mothers day were on the first sundays of May and June.

My girlfriend did too.

but apparently fathers day is actually the 3rd sunday of June, and mothers day is the 2nd Sunday of may??
>>
lol I'm pretty sure its Chic since I've seen lots of cu/ck/s talk about it.
>>
>>76659515
that's what i thought, but some people are wacked out of their mind

one guy uses the brady bunch variety hour as an example, claiming he never remembers the show being aired
>>
it is true bro, our world thanks too retards and cern fucking with things they shouldn't mess with is making time itself crumble beneath our eyes. repent
>>
Human memory is notoriously unreliable. Scientific studies show that a lot of what people remember has either been distorted by the brain or completely made up. It's why witness testimony in court is almost never taken at face value unless it is corroborated by hard evidence.

TLDR the Mandela effect is dumb.
>>
WTF!? IT WAS CHIC! I SWEAR IT!
>>
No fuckin way. I always remembered it as chick fil-a. Vividly. Always thought it was weird that they'd spell it that way.

I ate there just last week and recall wondering about why they'd spell it 'chic'.
>>
The Mandela Effect shit is retarded.
>That's odd, I misremembered this tiny, insignificant, easy to mistake detail from my childhood.
>Clearly I would never make a small mistake. I must have been sucked into an alternate reality where the only difference is a single letter in some book/company name.

This one I semi remember. I could be remembering this one wrong but I definitely remember it being "luke, I am your father" and not "no, I am your father".

Also apparently "hello clarice" was never in silence of the lambs and I definitely remember that one too. The idea that not hundreds, not hundreds of thousands, but millions of people are all remember the same thing wrong is laughably retarded.

My memory is probably just incorrect but I remember Wyoming having a more unique shape.

I don't believe that at all. Actually this should be easy to disprove. Name some popular quotes that are often "pronounced" wrong that haven't been "changed".

I never hear this, "oh millions of people just repeated something wrong from a movie and never rewatched the movie to find out they were wrong and ANYBODY who saw the movie never bothered to correct them, once or even look it up online?

That's fucking stupid, you're not going to convince me that one of the most iconic lines from one of the most highest grossing films of all time was repeated wrong by millions of people.

Yea maybe chic fila, possibly sex and the city and not sex in the city I could say "yea I could've been remembering that wrong" but you will never convince me that "Luke, I am your father" wasn't the original line in the movie when I first watched it in elementary school. My friends and I would play after we watched Star Wars and say that shit while pretending to force choke each other. I vividly remember those memories.

People have been saying at one time the Willis Tower was once called the "sears" tower..

Pretty sure it's always been Willis tower
>>
>>76662698
I always heard "Luke, I am your father" and remember that, but I saw the movie recently and realized "no, I am your father" is the line that makes sense considering the previous line is "[Obi-Wan] told me you killed him." It makes sense that "Luke, I am your father" would be repeated more because it provides the Star Wars context; no one would know what the fuck you were talking about if you went around saying "No, I am your father."

But nah, it's obviously CERN merging quantum realities.
>>

Yep. I grew up and owned a bunch of Berenstein Bears books.

It was changed obviously because Stein is a jewish name and they didn't want to apply an ethnic theme to the characters.

Stuff changes. It happens. There are reasons for it. But for some of these people to deny they were once something else is silly. Their minds are too narrow to even entertain the idea

This is why it only takes ONE counterexample to prove a scientific theory as false.

My friend who died was the one trying to force choke me and i distinctly remember him smiling and laughing at me saying that. You won't find some things on the net. Stuff can be scrubbed from the web.

Take the incident of Tom Cruise having a meltdown when he got separated from his Scientology brainwashing handler, during an interview.

They found him shaking in a closet, terrified to be without his handler.

Guess what? Scientologists had it scrubbed from the web with their bulldog legal team. Lawsuits to anyone who even posted it online.

Now the name changes we're finding aren't as bad, but it's still proof that the web can be scrubbed of some information.

I remember my father being very rich; we lived in an apartment in the city, and it was one of the expensive kinds. I used to play Mario, but a mario that was vastly different from the ones after smw2. And I remember certain things, like 90s parties down south on vacation where I'd get lost, and my parents found me swimming in a pool. It was traumatic for me, because I started drowning and woke up with very limited yellow-ish vision, and my parents took me home to our house in the woods, where my dad had no money. I always kept asking where all the money went, but we were always poor. I kept having nightmares that I had two dads, one who drank beer and lived in a shack in the woods, and one who drank gingerale and rum (a smell I remember from my memories) and lived in an apartment.

Later on in life, recently, I asked my mother (thinking back on the mandela effect), whether my father ever had money. She said to me "No, but when he worked in construction, him and his friend were going to start a construction company together, but he never quit his job to pursue that".

And if you're just changing your business name, it's regular practice to change your name. Anything with your name on it has to be replaced anyways over time, and all at once you can easily do it without any irregular costs.

DESU, spelling it Chic made no sense to begin with. It's a chicken restaurant. Why not just go with Chick. You would have to ask the owner. It's even possible someone else threatened to sue them over copyright infringement because they use Chic is their chicken food line or something petty.

They did

You see: Chic-fil-a was the name of a deal they offered sometime in the 90's where you got a sandwich, fries, and a drink.

Most of these effects are the result of a very popular event associated with the original which overtakes the popularity of the original at some point.

"Berenstein Bears" was the name featured in a Simpsons joke, for instance. Where they had a children's book about jewish bears that they were going to read to maggie.

I work with a guy who tells me how he constantly misquotes things on purpose to mess with people.
About how he taught his younger siblings the wrong words for things just to drive his parents mad.
Or how he'll intentionally use the wrong word, fake Freudian slips, tell completely false stories of remembered events (to people he supposedly shared those events with), intentional eggcorns and the like.
He's an odd guy. Half of the things he says are quotes, impersonations, catch phrases, jingles and other weird shit.

If the mandela effect is real, then people who most perceive the reality shifts are probably special in some way. Some people will live their whole lives knowing only one reality, while many of us will remember another reality, or maybe even multiple realities.

Might be collective delusion. But then again, reality is somewhat of a delusion anyway.

Mirror Mirror is the original line from the written story.

And it was always "No, I am your father" because he's denying Luke's previous line that claims that he had killed him.

The whole "Luke, I am your father" line is most often used in parodies where it would lack context/recognition without the name.

The discussion was about Google manipulating the content of its image searches, not the DVD on your shelf, not the memories in your head.

What's supposed to happen then, is purely social. The people in your life pressure you into conforming to their perception (which has conveniently been fed to them.) They water the seed of doubt, and it grows and grows until you no longer trust your own judgment. "I must have been wrong, I'm sorry for aggravating everyone." Otherwise you face being ostracized.
