Everyone I've talked to seems to regard it as a trade union first and a legislative body second, because that's what they were told 2 decades ago when voting on it. they don't know what the commission is and how they call the shots and elect each other, they don't know MEPs basically have no power at all and they don't realize that EU essentially already is a superstate with a constitution, a flag, a ''national'' anthem common currency etc.
