As a person who actually did the fancy prep school debates it's much harder to convince an average person. If you BTFO them constantly they will stick to their beliefs and just think you're a villain trying to convert them to the dark side and just shut you out completely. If you take the word "democracy" in the sense of "the people rule" then the "free market" is a form of democracy, and just like the other kind it needs consent and real choice in order to work.
