Because communists believe in Marxism, which is fundamentally a materialist philosophy. You can't be a materialist without being an atheist if you want to remain philosophically consistent.. Religion requires idealism on some level. Just read Marx' 'Critique on the German Ideology'. You'll see how ridiculous it is to believe in both Marx and Jesus.

Religions gives morality, rules, ethic, culture, etc. to the people (I'm not implying this is actually good in most cases). Without religion most people are basically a blank paper where they can write his commie ideas. That's what is happening actually in the Western world with the fall of christianism and the crazy libearlism we are living in.

No joke though, based Yuri mentioned this book at the end of one of his lectures. one of the conclusions reached by the author was that the event the preceded the downfall of every major state in history was the rejection of religion. Marxists really do promote atheism in order to subvert and destroy countries.
