Yes, no question about it. I worked for a while with mentally disabled kids. None of them really have any possibility of living any sort of meaningful life, even if they're high functioning. If they really get the shit end of the stick they might be super low functioning, which in reality means they'll be less mentally capable then a housepet. Americans sometimes don't notice this because you have a big, spacious country and can easily spend time in mostly empty lands. You're not forced to be surrounded by millions of other people. But someone like me, who who in one of the most densely populated countries in the world, with no room, no untouched nature far and wide, no escape, has all their socio-political thoughts dominated by this one: There are far too many people. If we only had one tenth of the population we have today, life could be grand for everybody. This way, we're all fucked. It's one of the reasons why our birth rate is even lower than the Western average, we're so sick of stepping on each other's toes. I hear the Japanese have a very similar sentiment.

When I was in middle school I had a teacher who said she got triggered when people wished her child would be healthy. She said that she didn't care and no matter how her child was she would love her. I got sent to the principal when I told her she is fucking stupid if she doesn't care about her childs health.
