The real problem with climate change is the fact that it is encouraging shitskin migration into developed (white) nations. Of course that can easily be solved by building walls and prohibited them from becoming citizens. There is no need to restrict our use of fossil fuels.
>>
There is climate change, but it isn't caused by humans. The Earth has natural cycles that shift its weather conditions.
>>
here in BC we used to always get bunch of weeks of snow, and it would be on the ground forever, now we get a couple of days with snow on the ground and that's it.

Actually the picture on the left was two days ago. The picture on the right was yesterday.

There wasn't even a storm, just a tidal surge and rain.

So i guess all those forests we clear and all that carbon we burn doesn't have an effect?

A remark from Maurice Strong, who organized the first U.N. Earth Climate Summit (1992) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil revealed the real goal: “We may get to the point where the only way of saving the world will be for industrialized civilization to collapse.”

Former U.S. Senator Timothy Wirth (D-CO), addressing the same Rio Climate Summit audience, agreed: “We have got to ride the global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic policy and environmental policy.” (Wirth now heads the U.N. Foundation which lobbies for hundreds of billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to help underdeveloped countries fight climate change.)

Also speaking at the Rio conference, Deputy Assistant of State Richard Benedick said: “A global warming treaty [Kyoto] must be implemented even if there is no scientific evidence to back the [enhanced] greenhouse effect.”

In 1988, a former Canadian Minister of the Environment told editors and reporters of the Calgary Herald: “No matter if the science of global warming is all phony…climate change [provides] the greatest opportunity to bring about justice and equality in the world.”

In 1996, former Soviet Union President Mikhail Gorbachev emphasized the importance of using climate alarmism to advance socialist Marxist objectives: “The threat of environmental crisis will be the international disaster key to unlock the New World Order.”

Speaking at the 2000 U.N. Conference on Climate Change in the Hague, former President Jacques Chirac of France said: “For the first time, humanity is instituting a genuine instrument of global governance, one that should find a place within the World Environmental Organization which France and the European Union would like to see established.”

Anon, do you know how massive our Co2 dumping has been? It has not been this massive since the last mass extinction.

We have to stop our co2 emissions, or at least cut back significantly. Our trees and plankton cannot process it all so it stays in our atmosphere. Year after year. It will only get worse.

The worst part is, it's all scientific fact. The greenhouse effect, everything. There is legitimate evidence and observable data that it is 100% fact. Yet, there are still deniers. Too wrapped up in their own world to give a shit.

The 97% of scientists believe in climate change bullshit was an IRL Australian shitpost.

>“only 41 papers — 0.3 percent of all 11,944 abstracts or 1.0 percent of the 4,014 expressing an opinion, and not 97.1 percent,” endorsed what Cook claimed.

Surely the most suspicious “97 percent” study was conducted in 2013 by Australian scientist John Cook — author of the 2011 book Climate Change Denial: Heads in the Sand and creator of the blog Skeptical Science (subtitle: “Getting skeptical about global warming skepticism.”). In an analysis of 12,000 abstracts, he found “a 97% consensus among papers taking a position on the cause of global warming in the peer-reviewed literature that humans are responsible.” “Among papers taking a position” is a significant qualifier: Only 34 percent of the papers Cook examined expressed any opinion about anthropogenic climate change at all. Since 33 percent appeared to endorse anthropogenic climate change, he divided 33 by 34 and — voilà — 97 percent! When David Legates, a University of Delaware professor who formerly headed the university’s Center for Climatic Research, recreated Cook’s study, he found that “only 41 papers — 0.3 percent of all 11,944 abstracts or 1.0 percent of the 4,014 expressing an opinion, and not 97.1 percent,” endorsed what Cook claimed. Several scientists whose papers were included in Cook’s initial sample also protested that they had been misinterpreted. “Significant questions about anthropogenic influences on climate remain,” Legates concluded.

How does that correlate?

The earth has always had volcanoes erupting, Einstein. For the most part of 3 some odd billion years it's been used to it.

It hasn't however, been exposed to us and our emissions. The co2 stays and we pile it on. It IS higher than ever recorded before anon, and it is our fault.

I'm not digging deep into this -- you'd just ignore it anyway if I did -- but Legates isn't a good source. He's essentially been bought off by ExxonMobil. Most of the scientists who claim to disbelieve in climate change have been. When all of the prominent scientists you can name who support your position have clear professional conflicts of interest, you have a problem.

He also signed this very scientific statement, pulled from Wikipedia:
>We believe Earth and its ecosystems — created by God’s intelligent design and infinite power and sustained by His faithful providence — are robust, resilient, self-regulating, and self-correcting, admirably suited for human flourishing, and displaying His glory. Earth's climate system is no exception.
So yeah, that's your guy. Excellent. What a great source. Good job.

Yeah, I know this is ad hominem. But I'm not actually trying to address the substance of your post -- like I said, you people always just ignore it when I do -- I'm making an entirely new argument, which is "Fuck David Legates."

BEACH EROSION IS BASIC MATH..
new jersey just put their beaches back. since the hurricane a couple years ago. the company and dude i met doing it were making bank. real estate was skyrocketing. i have pictures, but they had signs that said no pictures and i told based dude, i wouldn't show them. can't risk a bro's job. now a bro on welfare, he's up for grabs.

CO2 levels increase plant live growth. So if you cut down ALLLL THE FUCKING RAINFORRESTS AND FORRESTS THAT EAT THIS SHIT UP, CLEARLY CO2 LEVELS WILL RISE. the world will live even better, guess what...

PLANTS GROW FASTER WITH CO2. you on the other hand don't.

so increasing co2 isn't going to ruin the planet, READ IT AGAIN REDDIT FAG. it will just end humans. possibly animal life..

but everything will keep growing fag. imagine, we are worried co2 is too high.. so we plant tons of trees, and suddenly co2 levels collapse.

FACT, concealed MUH dude WEED BRO grow ops use co2 to increase plant size growth and shorten time frames during flower.

GLOBAL WARMING IS A HOAX, its all about sun activity and natural cycles.

i'm more worried about hoodlums and thugs, than i am MUH CO2 BRO.

humans are increasing co2 levels by cutting down plant life and burning dead plant life.. but if you plant shit.. numbers will probably offset.

LEMME PUT THIS ALL IN ENGLISH.

GLOBAL CARBON CREDITS ARE NOT GOING TO MAKE YOU RICH. ITS A FUCKING SCAM. TRUMP2016

Look up what happens to plants with a 300, 600, and 1200% increase in co2 without other changes. The co2 ain't so bad, look at the crazy shit pumped in the ocean or the damage chemicals can do to the atmosphere. Regulation needs to be enforced with trade restrictions to get results. You clearly didn't read the study the 97% agreement meme comes from. Studies were cherry picked from 3000+ submissions. Most studies (real scientists) did not make a conclusion. 66% that is. So the board widdled it down to 73 studies or so that said yes. And left one in that said no. That's how you get your 97%

The thousands of studies that did no conclude were simply thrown away.

>>
>>76254960
Well in reality you don't need to stop global warming, you just need to stop putting some of the more dangerous chemicals into the air. CO2 isn't really a risk, cities just need to adapt to create more green space.
Usually it's stuff like VOCs, ozone, etc. that create major problems since they cause too many chemical reactions in the atmosphere and create molecules that kill plants and such.

That's why switching from things like coal power plants to gas/oil power plants is huge. Yeah, they both dump pollution into the air, but the CO2 from gas power plants is easy to deal with.

CO2 is a risk, it gets dumped in the ocean as well and absorbs light and turns it into thermal energy
I agree gas is better than coal since it has significantly less sulfur, polycyclic aromatics, and other harmful stuff
>>
>>76254525
Dishonest or ignorant argument, but you make two good points:

1)Individual cutbacks of your gas guzzlers is a drop in the ocean compared to the CO2 China and India are emitting for electricity production. This is a global problem that requires global cooperation to solve.

2)CO2 is good for plants. They evolved when CO2 levels were higher than they are now. They grow faster in high CO2 because there is more of it to turn into sugar for energy.

CO2 is not good for you. It is poisonous in high concentrations.

It also stops heat from radiating out into space, increasing the amount of heat in the oceans and atmosphere.

It does, it's one of the most reactive oxidizing reagents there is. That's why it's used for doing ozonolysis in labs.

Ozone will straight up kill a human being and you don't even need very high amounts of it either, like low ppm levels of it will kill humans let alone plants.

a. “Reconciling observations of global temperature change” Richard Lindzen & Constantine Giannitsis. Geophysical Research Letters V 29 (2002) No 12 10.1029/2001GL014074

Analyzes the discrepancy between global mean temperature trends, obtained by satellite
microwave data, and surface temperature measurements.

b. “Compilation and discussion of trends in severe storms in the United States: Popular perception vs climate reality” Robert Balling Jr & Randall Cerveny Natural Hazards V 29 (2003) p. 103-112

Documents the mismatch between popular perceptions, as created by media reports, and
climate reality, which does not show extreme weather as increasing in the USA.

c. “On destructive Canadian Prairie windstorms and severe winters: A climatological assessment in
the context of global warming” Keith Hage Natural Hazards V 29 (2003) p. 207-228

Documents a temporal frequency peak in severe windstorms and associated tornadoes
during the 1920s and 1930s, then a steady decline since 1940 through 1980s. A steep rise
in tornado frequency since 1970 is attributed to increasing awareness and reporting of
tornado activity in recent years, and NOT due to change in tornado climatology.
>>
>>76257873
d. “Shifting economic impacts from weather extremes in the Unites States: a result of societal
changes, not global warming” Stanley Changnon Natural Hazards V 29 (2003) p. 273-290

Documents that increasing economic impacts of extreme weather events in the USA is a
result of societal change and NOT global warming.

e. “The global warming debate: A review of the present state of science” M L Khandekar T S Murty &
P Chittibabu Pure & Applied Geophysics V 162 (2005) p. 1557-1586

Concludes that the recent warming of the earth’s surface is primarily due to urbanization,
land-use change, etc. and not due to increasing green house gas in the atmosphere.

f. “Extreme weather trends vs dangerous climate change: A need for a critical reassessment” M L
Khandekar Energy & Environment V 16 (2005) p.327-331

Shows that extreme weather events like heat waves, winter blizzards, rainstorms, droughts
etc are not increasing anywhere in Canada, USA or elsewhere, where sufficient data are
available for adequate analysis.

g. “The interaction of climate change and the carbon dioxide cycle” A Rorsch R S Courtney & D
Thoenes Energy & Environment V 16 (2005) p. 217-238

Argues the relatively large rise of CO2 in the 20th century, was caused by the increase in
the mean temperature which preceded it.
>>
>>76257890
h. “Can we detect trends in extreme tropical cyclones?” Christopher Landsea et al Science V 313
(2006)p.452-454

Suggests the Dvorak technique, developed to estimate hurricane strength, was not
available in the late 1960s and early 1970s or before, when some of the hurricanes and
tropical cyclones may have been stronger than estimated.

i. “Trends in western North Pacific tropical cyclone intensity” M- C Wu K-H Yeung & W-L Chang EOS
Transactions AGU V 87 (2006) No 48 28 November 2006

Suggests that the western North Pacific tropical cyclone climatology does not reveal
increasing strength for typhoon records from 1965 to 2004.

j. “On global forces of nature driving the earth’s climate: Are humans involved?” L F Khilyuk & G V
Chilinger Environmental Geology V 50 (2006) p. 899-910

Presents a comprehensive review of the global forces driving the earth’s climate over
geological times. The present warming of the last 150 years is a short warming episode in
the earth’s geologic history. Human activity (anthropogenic green house gas emission)
may be responsible for only 0.01°C of the approximately 0.56°C warming of the 20th
century.

Climate change is natural
It will continue no matter what humans do
Trying to preserve the Earth and its species in a permanent state is a stupid waste of resources and utterly futile
Adversity will fuel scientific development and unconventional solutions to problems, rather than >tax tax tax stop using oil evil capitalists oh but China and India can do whatever they want because they're poor non-whites

> VISIBLE air pollution
> you can see it so it must be bad
> amonnium chloride gas must therefore be a health tonic

other causes of "photochemical smog"
Dust
Pollen
the methane and ozone produced by forests jungles and swamps
volcanic ash
soot from wild fires
etc etc etc

TV news B roll and over-wrought eco-looney "documentaries" spend a lot of time focusing their lenses on automobile tail pipes and industrial stacks but that is NOT the source of most air pollution
electrical generation, industrial plants, plastics manufacturing, and even painting your house release large amounts of VOCs, far more than automobiles do.

the poster child for photochemical smog in america is Los Angeles, and there isnt a coal fired industrial facility within 500 miles of LA.

>Doesn't want people to cut down trees
>Doesn't want trees to breathe the CO2 we emit either.

At least when we cut down trees we end it quickly. You just want them to suffocate and suffer.

> CO2 is poisonous
retard.

CO2 is NON-TOXIC, unlike the gasses coming off your crotch

CO2 is an "asphyxiant" due to it's formation displacing O2 in a given volume of air

air is 70% nitrogen, which is also NON-TOXIC but will kill you if the O2 levels drop below ~10%

80% CO2 + 20% O2 = breathable air
actually 20% O2 will be perfectly breathable in any inert gas environment

deep sea divers breathe Helium and O2 and for some dives the O2 goes as high as 40%

curiously, youll die from too much O2 but as long as you have enough O2, no amount of CO2 will hurt you

No but they do seemingly disprove the myth of "big carbon". The only reason anyone cares about this is because governments seek to place carbon taxes on industry and promote "renewable" energy thrice that would be near unusable if not for government subsidy.

I don't think any rational individual thinks environmentalism is, at its core, a bad idea. When you however try to impose regulation and outright lie and falsify data and then call anyone who asks questions an idiot "science denier" your position loses weight.

I'm more than willing to believe in this, but the behavior of the "scientists" in this case is overly defensive. Even if they are in the right. The fact that people get so defensive over evolution is a similar case.

I've made people get raving mad presenting them with arguments against evolution they can't possibly defend. I'll then explain where they fucked up and where the answer is, but they don't even understand what they're arguing about and call others "anti-science."

It's sickening and intellectually dishonest and only encourages "deniers" which are people that in reality are merely reacting skeptically and rationally to the zealotry you retards display.

“Earth Day” 1970 Kenneth Watt, ecologist: “At the present rate of nitrogen build-up, it’s only a matter of time before light will be filtered out of the atmosphere and none of our land will be usable.”

****

“Earth Day” 1970 Kenneth Watt, ecologist: “The world has been chilling sharply for about twenty years. If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but eleven degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age.”

****

April 28, 1975 Newsweek “There are ominous signs that Earth’s weather patterns have begun to change dramatically….The evidence in support of these predictions has now begun to accumulate so massively that meteorologists are hard-pressed to keep up with it….The central fact is that…the earth’s climate seems to be cooling down…If the climate change is as profound as some of the pessimists fear, the resulting famines could be catastrophic.”

****

1976 Lowell Ponte in “The Cooling,”: “This cooling has already killed hundreds of thousands of people. If it continues and no strong action is taken, it will cause world famine, world chaos and world war, and this could all come about before the year 2000.”

****

July 9, 1971, Washington Post: “In the next 50 years fine dust that humans discharge into the atmosphere by burning fossil fuel will screen out so much of the sun’s rays that the Earth’s average temperature could fall by six degrees. Sustained emissions over five to ten years, could be sufficient to trigger an ice age.”

****

June, 1975, Nigel Calder in International Wildlife: “The continued rapid cooling of the earth since WWII is in accord with the increase in global air pollution associated with industrialization, mechanization, urbanization and exploding population.”

Weather on the earth is a function of solar radiation. We have accurate solar records dating back about 250 years. We are currently in Solar Cycle 24, and this one is VERY weak. A weak solar cycle translates to cooler temperatures over the next decade.

Longer term, we are also in an interglacial period. It is much warmer today relative to the last Ice Age. This means that while things may continue heating up, inevitably it will get colder and there will be another Ice Age.

Geology student here.
No, there is no question anymore the source of CO2 is well known.

Carbon-13 is a stable isotope of Carbon (no, not Carbon-14, that's radioactive). Life prefers Carbon-12 to Carbon-13 because the lighter atom is easier to use in biological processes. As life consumes Carbon a greater abundance of Carbon-13 is left behind in the atmosphere. Life is not even aware it's doing it. It's simply a consequence of living processes naturally preferring one over the other as it's easier to work with.

Non biological processes which lock Carbon into rock, such as dissolved CaCO3 in water precipitating into Carbonate rocks doesn't care. So when a source rock releases Carbon back into the atmosphere, such as through dissolving inorganically precipitated Carbonate rock or through the breakdown of coal we know damned well where the Carbon came from by the abundance of Carbon-13.

Atmospheric CO2 is increasingly coming from biological source rock, IE coal.

Arguing against anthropogenic climate change at this point is uneducated and unscientific.

Oh, here, I found an article written by NOAA for education.

Now, this is bait,

BUT, we're it serious,

If I were to call this poster a retard and a dumb christfag that doesn't understand science he would recoil and dig deeper into his argument and refuse to come out or consider any other point. Others, who might not care as much or even tangentially might understand evolutionary theory, will see this dogmatic adherence to theory and begin to question things if he is an otherwise intelligent and skeptical person.

Thus you force your subject into further zealotry and sway others against your own position by zealously arguing in favor of "science" which is not a scientific way of arguing whatsoever.

And no, "I get sick of arguing with idiots lol" is a lazy excuse. If you have time to yell at and berate idiots you have time to explain things like a rational being.

>Hypercapnia is initially stimulating, but longer-term exposure to high levels of carbon dioxide leads to "carbon dioxide narcosis": lethargy, confusion, and sleepiness. Exposure to levels of carbon dioxide around 10% causes dizziness and higher levels cause unconsciousness within minutes.1 There have been a number of reported deaths where accidental exposure to high carbon dioxide levels caused the victims to black out before they could reach safety

my most important question is how did animals ever get from sea to land... think about it, even if they would jump up the coast for a few seconds every time it would be retarded to assume they actually developed lungs, a completely different type of oxygen intake. The development of lungs is an incredibly important step and theres no logical explanation for it
