I suppose "Anglo-Irish Protestants" might be a better description, but they were mainly known as the Protestant Ascendancy and they lasted into the late 19th century and in pockets into the mid- to late-20th century. That would confuse yanks though so I went for just "English Protestants".
Then of course, you have to differentiate the Protestant Ascendency from the "Old English", who were the descendants of Anglo-Norman settlers from the late Middle Ages. They'd become as Irish as the Irish themselves by the 16th century, never mind the Famine era, and they never converted to Anglicanism.
