Right now you need to pass rigorous tests for your unit to get approved for HCV living and they have a full range of rents they will cover. They even let you move into a more expensive place than they will cover if you're willing to pay more for your rent portion, and the majority of apartments are perfectly affordable with a HCV. My apartment is 950ish a month and I pay 163 out of my 850ish total income which doesn't cover electric. From the federal guidelines that I have, I can easily move into a apartment with about a 3000 a month rent at the high end.
Also the state where I live is in budget battles so the fed is stepping in to fund the program from now on using their magic jew bank dollars from space, so I can choose to live anywhere as well.
Like all liberal programs, its great... if you get it. It weakens the nations economy on the whole versus all the people on section eight paying their own rent, but then again that isn't deemed possible hence why the program exists.
