Why do country's suicide rates tend to INCREASE as quality of life improves?
How come people rarely kill themselves in impoverished, starvation/war/plague wracked shitholes but as soon as a nation becomes relatively developed, educated and prosperous people start topping themselves left and right?

When you're in a poor country, you struggle to even survive on a daily basis, your life has value because your instincts are constantly working to preserve it, you don't get to think about ending it. Life is precious because it is so fragile and you constantly have an instinctual drive to preserve it.
In a rich country, you don't need to think about surviving, life is taken for granted and not fragile, therefore it loses its value. Your instincts are not sollicitated as much, and since you have all your basic needs met, you struggle to find another meaning to "all of this", and conclude that it is pointless and kill yourself.

Depression leads to suicide, you think things make you depressed/unhappy but really don't, people learn to cope with whatever situation they are in.
A study found people who won the lottery and people who were parapalegic had the same life satisfaction six months after incident.
Suicide is a result of not feeling like you fit in with people, connect to a greater purpose and society, this is what leads to depression. People in poor countries often face hardship but find strength in their loved ones and communities.
Humans have an insatiable desire to build, create, overcome, hunt, conquer, fuck, kill, and hoard everything they created, thus becoming powerful in society.
Democracy and capatalism work so well that they are self cannibalizing systems that create masses of stupid lazy people that would have normally been done away with by natural selection. Eventually the stupid and weak far outbreed decent people, vote for so called "liberal" policies and increasing the welfare state, which has historically been the demise of every democracy.
Without the neural stimuli of natural human instinct we become depressed and bored with our sheltered pampered lives.
faced with physical survival concerns - war, lack of food or water, etc. we kick onto autopilot and try to insure our body's survival. we are animals after all.
when things are calm and we don't have to "act like an animal" our mistake of a big brain starts to think higher than things of physical survival. along with inventing things and going about our mundane business our big brain starts thinking about why are we here? why do I have to deal with bullshit? what's the point?

In developed countries life is too boring so some people seek self fulfillment through feel good movements like feminism and sjw garbage, other people give up and kill themselves.
