Unfortunately, the formative years were not pleasant, and all I can think is "Why would I want to participate in that?" And instead spend all my time on the internet shitposting and playing videogames, essentially being checked out.

Basically in that order. I'm lazy as fuck and know this about myself, I do well enough in school to get my degree (physics) interact with people in small doses alright, but I don't have anyone I've met in the last five years (outside of one drug friend) that I still interact with regularly.
There's just nothing making me want to stop using my computer for a majority of my life, and while I think on an individual level that reason has to come from self, realistically on a societal level there has to be some kind of impetus.
