There's no 100% safe body armor that a man can easily wear and move around freely, unless the ones shooting at you have very shitty weapons, some bullets will still pass through it, though it still helps to prevent grenade splinters and similar stuff from hurting you. I was interested about this a while back and asked in /k/ about it, there wasn't much choice. Better resistance to penetration requires more density and more density adds weight to the armor.
