>we come from intelligent design
>we were made in his image (notice how most ayy lmaos in movies are pretty much humanoids? it's likely that if aliens created us, they made us look similar to them)
>God (i.e. the guy who created the simulation) is watching

Gets even freakier if you imagine that the past might not even have existed. Nobody currently alive has seen the 1700s. The past/history could have been "hardcoded" into the simulation, maybe the simulation has only been running for a few centuries.

I've always felt like this was a simulation of some kind. For all I know when I "die" I wake up. This reality might not even resemble the real one, it wouldn't have to if I had no knowledge of the real one.

I've also often wondered if some people aren't literally NPCs and have no consciousness. It's how I try to rationalize the amount of suffering certain people experience. I like to think that my existence was something I opted into, and that one can't just be thrust into suffering without having a say so.
>>
>>75914445

If this were true it would mean that:

1) Memories of past lives = glitch in the system.

2) Reincarnation = when a spoiled brat dies and pays for his character to come back.

3) We're lab rats.

4) Worrying about the past is pointless.

5) The devil is the good guy because he wants to let people be free as opposed to living under a tyrant.

It doesn't necessarily mean any of that, in this belief system you don't know the motivation of the creators. You don't know if we're the creators even, you don't know if our advanced selves aren't playing video game characters (us)

If you believe that simulation of detailed universes is possible, then it seems inevitable that you have to accept that we are probably in one.

>The past/history could have been "hardcoded" into the simulation, maybe the simulation has only been running for a few centuries.
How do you know the past exists at all? They could play for just a nanosecond, freeze the universe, save the "game," delete the old universe and move it one nanosecond forwards.

I think that the simulation hypothesis is total junk btw, just to put it out there.

Chances are if we are in a simulation it's not a digital one. People keep thinking simulation = digital = video game.
There can be chemical simulations, simulations have been done using only cells before. It's a different sort of simulation but I imagine the world is just as real as you think real can be, it's simply a physical simulation created by a surreal nigh-incomprehensible universe above physical standards.

Maybe their digital is our physical. Atoms are their coding language, quarks their binary, ect.
Isn't it weird to think of it like that when you truly do think about it?

We could also be in an ancestor simulation mind you.

If we at some point could gather enough processing power and figure out an algorithm corresponding to the general process of reality (a Theory of Everything really), we could simulate a small area of space with almost complete accuracy from a set of initial factors.

It's possible, nobody at all is stating that simulation of a given area of space is impossible, they're saying it's hard as fuck and at the moment is limited by power and data points to go off of.

What if you're the only sentient' thing in the simulation - everything else, including everyone you meet - are simulated on an ad hoc basis. Like the simulation only has to simulate Brad Pitt when he's on TV or you think about him, read about him in a magazine etc. And even then it doesn't have to simulate him completely because he's not there and you're not interacting with him.

Same idea with the scientific results; if all you ever do is read about them - even the scientific papers themselves - then the simulation doesn't have to go to the trouble of recreating the 'reality' of the experiment.

My parents read the first two harry potter books to me and my brother every night, the day they were going to read the last chapter of the second book I was getting hardcore deja vu all day. What would be more entertaining 'how will this populated area handle a larger than average storm', or 'how will humanity cope with an army of fucking lava beasts the size of a mountain'
>>
>>75914750

Actually there are several pieces. Since years ago particle collision investigators have been saying that it makes no sense how certain physical phenomena display limit behaviors for no reason. For example, the light should be able to travel faster than c under certain conditions, and even though we have managed to slow light beams down to roughly 10 meters per second under lab conditions, making it travel faster than c is impossible and there's no logical reason for it because the factor preventing it is unknown.

Similar things happen with lots of other stuff, and it's believed that it's due to the limit size of the data type that stores the variable in the computer used to simulate us. This universe's physics are only approximate to the real one's because RAM is a limiting factor.

A lot of philosophy is impossible to prove. That's why it's philosophy and not science. It's the old brain in a jar argument that goes nowhere.

If we are in a simulation though, the reality of outer shell probably runs under completely different rules. I don't believe computing power, operating under our laws of physics, can ever create a reality where someone can experience consciousness.

>>75918316

No. That's batshit retarded. Absolutely impossible. Simulating something like this would take a huge amount of resources, and if recursivity was allowed the resources needed would grow exponentially because everything simulated in a given layer requires space in every superior layer. Also, the use for such simulation would be to run trials of different stuff (Drugs?) in a short time, so it would make no sense to have simulations inside other simulations. We are a first level simulation and that's 100% true.

May our masters be good

We're most likely a hyper-autismo sim for people who enjoy going through checklists in flight sims. I mean, the tutorial for servers with advanced gameplay features lasts like 20 years and is growing.

I also considered the possibility that we are in a fantasy universe where electromagnetism is our form of magic, but that would beg the question of how the simulator is running.

Considering that the universe is gargantuan in size perhaps even infinite, I doubt the simulation was made just to study or play with us humans.

Look at the progress from the Sims 1 to the Sims 4. LOOK AT THE PROGRESS. The graphics, the AI, the decision making, the realism . We went from Sims 1 to Sims 4 within our lifetimes.

Imagine in 2050 what Sims 32 will be. They will literally be concious sims. They will have "human" like AI. They will literally be our creations and we will be their gods .We will play the sims for self gratification- we will want them to love us and worship us.

We are characters in a game of the Sims and soon we will create another "world" of humanoids in our own version of the Sims. and they will create their own "world" of humanoids in the sims, created in their image. And the cycle will continue forever and ever and ever and ever. really makes you think.

All things have schema that govern them this can be upset slightly or greatly altered or even shattered, achieving the result of being slightly or radically different
All things can be expressed through algorithms which can be which this clod isn't doing broken do into integers.
Just because the Universe can be understood in terms similar to what the universe does doesn't mean we are in a video game, it means we model are video games realities rules based off real world algorithms to make them realistic to sell games.

when you come back from cartoon land (its literally the most intense drug I can even imagine existing) you still have some residual effects for a few minutes, like you can see the "essence" of shit. hard to describe, but you can see like a technicolour overlay of things, your hand will look like a fluoro coloured skeleton is overlaid on it etc etc. its weird shit mang.
