Besides gay marriage, the NBN is the biggest non-issue in Australian politics. An absolute waste of time and money.

My understanding is that Australia's Internet infrastructure is poor and out dated

The initial solution was a costly fiber optic replacement.

The revised solution is half assed fiber-copper hybrid and worked out costing almost as much

Either way the ultimate goal is to help cunts pirate more efficiently and secure the "internet addicted millennials" vote

Is fast internet the most degenerate investment of our history?

You have no idea how much energy a high speed rail could save.

And the income generated by linking cities by rail could be HUGE.
Business meeting in Melbourne, train, another meeting in sydney in one day.

Wireless tech might be dangerous to use.

I imagine it being easier to hack into. That's why you always go cable over wireless.

Sure, wireless might be hard to crack, but are you willing to take that risk when you know everyone wants the info you're receiving and sending?

Most Aussies do not understand the internet and it's potential.
Give a couple more years (if war is expected) and we'll see it's proper use and the proper need for fast internet.

Also, when it comes to share trading (which internet speed can influence whether you're first in the queue or last in the queue) it's a BIG deal.

High speeds for all people in Aus increases Australia's competitiveness as a whole.

Japan are worried that China realises this. So is our government. We could lose trade daily by not having the up to date info as quickly as they do.

We are talking about the need for universal upgrades of network infrastructure

the average dolt won't even know what you are talking about let alone be able to utilize a high speed network in the fashion you suggest.

this basically needs its own thread but i've posted enough shit for one night

you need it, but the arguments are rubbish?

so what argument should they use?

personally I am in favor of private enterprise and competition giving people the best chance of a good product for the lowest money they can

You've hit the nail on the head with competition. But thanks to the Telstr-opoly, we just don't have that, so it comes down to the gubmint having to fund shit uneconomically.
>>
Can anyone from the US confirm if they had privately installed fiber where they live?

I started hearing about google fiber back in 2013ish and then all the cunty providers followed suit when they felt their customers vibrating to leave them.
>>
>>75864532
It's very useful to get all the data back really quickly, which can amount to a lot. Indeed supercomputers run the code. Though having a fast connection allows you to do some tests/debugging without going there too.

>>

Actually most of the country side is stuck with ADSL2 so you basically get 10/1 in a lot of places.

If we're talking actual cities then yes, at least 100/100.
>>
>>75865011
sounds like a shit job but also sounds cool

>>
There are other factors that determine your speed, like your ISP might be shit and not go directly to whatever country you are connecting to.
>>
>>75864789
It just lowers the barrier for entry.

Think of it as a safety precaution to secure prosperity.

Up and coming traders have easier access to good internet to start their trading. This means more Aussies further up the queue.

This network is just speeding up the process of getting faster internet to people that DO need this internet speed.

I'm stuck because my house hasn't been connected. Furthermore, it's only getting fibre to the node (or worse apparently).

This means I now how to first move in order to start effectively trading securities. A catch 22 where I need to move for faster internet, but can't afford to move because shitty internet.

The NBN removed this obstacle for many newbies in finance and particularly hedge funds.

>>
>>75865237

most ISPs use carriers such as tier3 for international, and most of the submarine cables are run by consortiums who share the bandwidth
>>

>don't need that much water?
They did.

And then when the limit was lifted, people didn't go back to using the amount they did before the drought since they got used to using less. So what happens then? They raise the price of water.

Disgusting. Our dams were almost full once and instead of giving everyone free water for like a week or two, they just dump it.

That would affect the ping, not the bandwidth. Sure if there are things along the way which are under a lot of stress your speed might drop somewhat but that's usually not the case.

Also, in a lot of cases the way your packets go is the best way or at least a good way. The problem is that the infrastructure is already in place so it's hard to simply say "Well, just go directly there" because there is no direct line. The above & a better control of traffic is why businesses which use a lot of bandwidth coordinate with ISPs and have their own infrastructure built to speed things up.

So they're just as clueless proportionally as Aus.

Fuck this is probably a worldwide problem.

And I think the economic crisis is a direct symptom of this gap of internet infrastructure use between those that use it well and those that use it for little other than entertainment.

Great minds think alike.

I believe more and more everyday that the difference between Europe and China came down to just the geo-political factors.
China united where Europe became more and more divided.

That's why Europe did better in the end.

And that says something.

Because look what the globalists are doing. They're creating another unified China that will have problems - again.

Better to remain divided, yet united.

That is how global humanity has to work.

Greenday went from pop-punk to pop music with Warning. That was their worst album and ironically the album most responsible for transitioning them from Pop-Punk to Edgy-Pop music. If the quintessential Green Day album was Dookie, then Insomniac was a return to Kerplunk, and Nimrod was more like Dookie. Warning really was worst album of the pop-punk movement. It was designed to pull in fans of movies like American Pie and make them believe that this was what Punk sounded like, but it couldn't be further from the truth. Don't get me wrong it was critically praised, but it was awful for actual punk fans because it was the transition that killed off Punk and brought about Post-Punk Emo and other terrible genres of music.

Tunes or bands? Because if I had to pick an essential punk tune, I would go with something like Blitzkreig Bop by the Ramones. It was really high energy, simple, and really defined the punk rock genre. I would say Rock the Casbah or Guns of Brixton from the Clash would also be on that list. Simple, high energy, original and a good characterization of punk.

>I'm guessing he is on a 1Gbps synchronous fiber connection. Only corporations and universities can afford that shit.
It's not that expensive. I got it because I was going to save money if I upgraded to a 1gbs connection. Its really now based on where you live but, seeing you are from Australia I can see having that kind of power cost a foot and leg for you guys.

The citadel of a north African city. Old part of the city. Of course, it would help to know a little bit of history with that song. Back in 73 during the Yom Kippur War Israel was at war with Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco (supposedly Moroccan troops were aiding Syria in the Golan) and Lebanon. The Arab league and OPEC around the same time decided to Embargo the US which caused huge gas shortages, and massive tensions between the US and the middle east. People old enough would remember gas rationing based on plate number and massive lines at gas station

No, they're just original punk-rock bands. "Ska" and "Skapunk" was third wave shit that didn't have a name until the 90's when ska bands like Streetlight Manifesto started calling themselves that. I doubt Operation Ivy would've ever used the term to describe their music.
