Fantastic movie, riveting book, but ultimately didn't foresee the decline of war in the future, but MIGHT be teh cause and factor to why that is.

also props to MGSV trying to reference it. too bad it was only half a game.

I hated it the first time reading it, but after having looked back on it, I have come to realize that it was a brilliant book, including animal farm.
>>
The Ministry of Love is still an incredibly poignant part to read even to this day.
>>
Killed my will to read fiction.

After growing up in a world that basically said "racism is bad so we'll correct it with racism," my fear of fiction has only grown. The pleasant, detachment of non-fiction is all I have left.

I'm glad I didn't read Brave New World. Read one and you're scared for life, read both and you're looking for a way out.

>didn't foresee the decline of war in the future

I wasn't aware that we are done bombing random middle eastern countries

>Huxley fags coming in 3... 2... 1.....

Brave New World is far more accurate.

After I read it I remember thinking how completely misguided everyone was worrying about "ooooeee big brother it's just like 1984". It's a brutal book, and nothing our governments have done is even close to it.

Those commie gooks on the other hand... maybe we should have always been at war with east asia.

Everyone should read it. One of the most important things the book taught me was to spot language changes. Control the words and you control the people. The media does it all the time.

Dude, we're at an age of unsurprising stability.

Not only do we have an ISS but we're going to colonizing offworld within 20 years easy, some say by 2020.

What's really the thing is the "random" countries we're "bombing" is part of a removing dictatorships. It started in Afghanistan and IRaq and libya and egypt and on and on.

Have you not been watching the news. These are civil wars, that we we do tactical bombings on with missiles more precise then ever before. This is what Green Beret was trained to do.

Anyways, as time goes on it's seen that the world should decline in both crime and wars in general.

We just had to get past this last hurdle, that 9/11 actually help stabilize, for the benefit of mankind.

I mean the ISS is a bigger deal then you realize, as well as other join scientific endeavours the likes of which have NEVER happened before. What we have now we take for granted, but you're not living in the world your grandparents or parents did. My dad had to practice what to do incase of THERMONUCLEAR WAR.

We don't even worry about the very danger, at best we worry about the next CoD game.

Life is so good, it makes me cry.

I hate it how everyone is hurr evil soviet russia 1984 when book is about england and what was to come. Even today they had government could be spying on you just like that guy using putin's face. Not like there's a proven illegal net of espionage of western governments on their own people, let's use evil russkies as an example.

1984 had it all wrong, It is great that there are cameras every where, endless hours of chimp-outs, bet Orwell didn't see that coming.

Huxley was more correct than Orwell

Huxley saw that a regime sustained solely by violence would not last, and that in order to truly control people you need to make them enjoy their captivity

1984 more accurately portrays what our governmental institutions have become, while Brave New World is far more relevant to society at large. Mix in a little bit of 1984's newspeak and you're honestly not far off from the modern world at large.
>>
>>75819935
There's not anything wrong with it. The dickwaving between the two books is kinda annoying, however, considering both books got a lot of things right.

We're heading in a direction more akin to A Brave New 1984.

A mix of both extreme surveillance and mass produced distractions and ever controlling governments.

Ah ok. I'm going to reread 1984 now.
