why should free university even be desirable?
2015 58% choose university over the ''simple'' jobs.http://de.statista.com/statistik/daten/studie/72005/umfrage/entwicklung-der-studienanfaengerquote/
Most of them are probably studying pseudoscience or dream about being CEO with a bachelors degree in economics.
University in Germany is basically free, depending on how expensive the semester bus tickets costs around 150€ per semester.
>lecturers are underpaid and hardly qualified
>way to many students
>bachelor degrees are worth nothing
>most of the students break up and study something else
> moral downfall for the youth: you don't have to work until your 23 or so
> the buildings are old and crumbling
>Fachkräftemangel: noone wants to work, you won't find any young german working as electrician, or as a mason for example.
> we need niggers to do that jobs
my solution:
scholarships for the clever
cheap loans for the eager and commited
limited amounts of students
limited amounts of studies (no more pseudoscience)

Because Bernie says Education is a right, not a privilege.

I'd prefer to pay and not to be subjected to an admission test.

Also limit the amount of liberal arts students, fucking waste of public money.

>more people should do usefull stuff
>less people should do useless stuff
I bow down before your brilliance

Or put a fucking admission test in every course so people will think twice before flooding universities.
here we have to take a nation wide exam to get into university so only the actually clever ones get in
we usually have to study really damn hard for 2-3 years on highschool for that exam

There's a variety of problems with university being the go to for most high school grads but it reflects problems with wages in the marketplace. Blue collar jobs like electricians, plumbers, construction, and welding etc need to pay more to entice people to take these jobs. Why make 50k max a year doing hard work in some blue collar company with union dues when a post uni job in a decent field of study gives 50k min. The only people making money in blue collar fields are the business owners that might not have had to do the nitty gritty work in years. When top paying jobs are all degree oriented jobs it becomes obvious where people will choose to go after high school.

For the most part I think it's because people still think that, education = intelligence. It used to be a place you went to learn to improve your prospects of getting X job, but now it's a place of literal brainwashing, marxism and crying about how oppressed you are. It's as worthless as the pieces of paper you get after completing.

Wholeheartedly agree. It's the exact same thing in France.
That "free" college meme needs to stop

i think most students are naive.
we have a tradition of well qualified blue collar jobs. even with a simple job in the industry ou can go home with 2,5k/ month as a beginner and you get paid about 1k during the ausbildung.
unless you study law/medicine/science you won't get that money.
there are about 28k students at my university over 50% don't study those subjects.
they're studying linguistics, culture, social stuff.
i often feel like I have to suffer, while those guys drain the universitys money.
I know someone who has been studying anglistics in a bachelors degree for 4 years now.
>for what fucking purpose?
>you don't have to work until your 23 or so
I'm older than most on here.
One bit of advice, if I may; Unless you're going into academia, or a very specialised STEM field, employers will mostly not give a fuck about your degree.
When given the choice, most employers would rather take on someone who has any experience in any workplace and who shows the promise that they might develop the necessary skills over someone fresh out of university with a degree and an overbearing sense of hubris.
College drop out, 1st year. Was doing jack shit 3 years after dropping out. Paid 9,000£ for 26 weeks of hairdressing craftsmanship. I get paid 200$ minimum for simple 15 minutes cut. Usually it's 350-450$, 1/4-1/3 of hairjobs 700-800$. Could have been worse.
