It's easy for person to be a victim. When through all your life you are told that your blight is because of something external you'll feel that there isn't anything you can do to make your life better. Continuing this trend is where Black Lives Matter fails.
Of course the lives matter, but demonizing others won't help anybody. There is a problem of violence in black communities, but much like middle east(on smaller scale, of course), it's because these people don't have anything else to spend their time on. So gangs promise some manner of activity, and people take that because they want to do something.
If movements like Black Lives Matter really cared about people, they'd try to create some kind of meaningful activites for younger people, like sports or art programs. Hell, even some kind of community work. Just something to get their people to rise, and improve the quality of community. Give people something to do, encourage them to seek higher education!
They should also be teaching people about drugs and criminal life. Not only about health problems involved, but also about financial implications they have for the community.
As it is, I find it hard to believe that people who claim they care about this really do. Talk is cheap, and raising hell is easy.
