Why do REPUBLICS lack GRAVITAS? Where you compare 2 like countries, all other things being roughly equal the republic always seems to lack a considerable gravitas possessed by the monarchy. I don't mean to say that for example the United States, which possesses considerable gravitas, lacks gravitas when compared to Brunei. But where you compare like countries like Norway vs Finland; Japan vs Korea; Britain vs France, the republics always seem to be lacking 'something' and give the impression of being less respectable. In fact I can only think of two republics, namely Switzerland and the United States, that possess an air of respectability. This is why, if people keep whining that the Queen of Australia is the same person as the Queen of the United Kingdom, Canada, etc, despite these roles being legally separate, it would be better to just change the succession law to split off the royal family of Australia in genetics as well as law (eg offer it to William or Harry while UK gets Charles) rather than just amending the constitution to become a republic by replacing Queen/Governor General with ceremonial president

It may be that Switzerland and the US are the only respectable republics as they are the oldest and most stable (France certainly isn't as it reverted to empire and monarchy many times between 1789 and 1945 and completely changed its constitution many times thus '#th French Republic'. Aside from the two mentioned, it seems all the other republics of the world have proved to be massively unstable
>>
>>75255144
In all Westminister systems that have transitioned to a Republic, they've always had a shitty politically motivated president and as a result unstable Politics (you have only to look at the Irish Uachtarán)

Monarchy gives the ability to have an impartial head of state above party politics to intervene in an emergency (and your GG exercising that power has heightened Republicanism above any other Commonwealth realm); but think about it this way, a President wether appointed by Parliament or directly elected; will be screwing with your Political system like that constantly, wether in favour of the Parliamentary Government or against it.
>>
>>75256214
>Switzerland is a direct democracy and is unstable as fuck due to competing cantons
>The US has always survived on a two party system and the constant switching between them.

There are plenty of stable Republics, it's just having an impartial head of state is highly beneficial and highly sought after; and having an Autocrat raised for the job is by far the best system despite muh jewels.
>>
>>75256214
And the French have been a constant mess of riots revolutions and uprisings their entire history; they've just gotten more efficient at it since 1789.
>>
>>75255144
Man shut the fuck up.

America is the single greatest country on Earth primarily because they decided to flush all that Queen shit down the drain about 200 years ago.

All other Commonwealth nations would be smart to do the same thing.

I will never understand people's fascination with these old pale fucks who have accomplished absolutely nothing in their lives besides being born from the bloodline of kings. It pisses me off that that old bitch is on our money.

The moment someone says he wants to completely remove Canada from the monarchy's influence in every shape and form, I will vote for them on that basis alone.

Fuck the royal family.

>>
>75256593 Indeed the French appear to be a savage race.

>75256412 While our system here has been too heavily modified by federalism, strong senate, written constitution, etc to truthfully be considered a Westminster system, no matter what the system a politicised head of state appears to be a recipe for instability and resentment. Why anyone would voluntarily give away this great benefit of an impartial head of state so lightly is ridiculous. Hopefully as unfortunately I believe will be inevitable when QE2 passes and the Australian people decide to ditch the monarchy somebody will put forward the proposal of just changing the law of succession so that the Australian monarch is somebody who is not the monarch of any other country at the same time. Preferably a direct descendant of the existing royal family. Unfortunately it seems this will never happen and we will get some politician
>>
>75256764 But then what would be the point of Canada's continued existence as a nation? Without the monarchy you may as well join the US. Unlike Australia canada is nor an organic and unified country with a distinctive culture like Australia and is basically a collection of provinces that didn't join in the revolution of 1776. I can't imagine a Republic of Canada continuing to exist very long
>>
>>75257068
>Did the eternal Anglo get triggered yet again?

Not really pal, I found it p.funny.

When you realise the American contribution in the first world war was less than the Portugese expeditionary force and in the second a minor allied power along with the Free French forces and the UK.

The Americans sat around making money out of both wars and the effects are going to ware off within the next 10-50 years.

Atlantic Canada is very Anglophillic in it's mannerisms with the exception of Quebec; less so Ontario, it's the far west and centre that are the Ameriphiles.

I can see then becoming a republic and frankly I wouldn't blame you since we abandoned our kin in 1931 and left you to your own devices.

Yes we'd be much, much better if we just continued to be allied with or straight up joined the United States. Pretty much everyone except the most retarded of Canadians seems to know this.

Guess what everyone thinks of Australian culture: no one fucking cares about it. No one knows about it. The only Australian person I know of is Sia and that crocodile guy. Also people here only talk about British people to make fun of them. We do however, love the shit out of America, even if we make fun of each other all the time.

Meanwhile Canada has been the most successful meme nation of all time. We gave the world Drake, The Weeknd, Justin Bieber and Meme Minister Trudeau. Also we're about to win the NBA.

No one in Canada gives a single shit about the royal family anymore. We're happy being cold and drinking Tims and smoking our almost-legal weed.

We've watched over Europe for a thousand years; like I said the US was an Isolationist nation prior to the 1890's and even failed to invade Canada; it'spost war boom from it's pillaging is over, it had it's place in the sun.

>Pretty much everyone except the most retarded of Canadians seems to know this.

No dude I'm like 99% of Canada. As in the vast majority of Canadians really could give less of a flying fuck about the royal family. Admittedly if there was a hot princess maybe we'd give more of a shit, but there isn't, so we don't.

Kind of sad. Representative democracy is a failure.

The only way I see democracy working is if were in a city-state where the sense of community would be much stronger. But within the uneducated masses of nations today it's a complete sham.

Jews hate monarchies for a reason. It's for the reason op describes. Monarchies have long lost their political say, and many of them have actually become Jew pawns (The British Queen mother walks around with Mason symbolism in clear sight is a good example) but to the collective consciousness they still represent the ultimate goy power that the Jew has no immediate power over. That's why they hate royalty with a passion and also why OP feels the way he feels.

Alright this is my last post before I go play Overwatch. Since you guys are all clearly ignoramuses who don't understand the first thing about the glory of Canada, I'll just succinctly explain it to you.

Your monarchy basically means nothing here. This picture is the most Canadian thing you will ever see with your own eyes, barring perhaps a blue jay flying over a beaver dam in the northern sunset.

This is an Asian immigrant, who has in a fit of rage, destroyed a kiosk of the oldest bank in Canada with a hockey stick, because the Vancouver Canucks lost.

This image explains everything you need to understand about 21st century Canada.

No one cares about the monarchy or the royal family, they have basically accomplished nothing and are entirely irrelevant to everyone. Like Sherlock Holmes made a conscious effort to remove unnecessary information from his brain, so have we Canadians removed the names of your monarchs from our collective memories; they don't serve us at all. We care more about the dudes who play hockey, our meme popstars and the dudes who actually run the world and make an impact on Canada (American Presidents).

OK continue shitposting, my work here is done.

God Bless Canada, God Bless America and God Save Donald Trump.

I wouldn't say we are defenseless against elected government officials. The majority of our military are loyal to the people, rather than to the government. Our second amendment enables us to bear arms, an important deterrent to any hostile takeover/overstepping by our leadership. I just don't see the point of a monarchy. Making someone superior because of them having 'royalty' is just stupid and are just glorified celebrities.

A leader should earn a position of leadership through hard work, intelligence and determination. It's a shame that no leaders have this these days as royals and politicians are all useless.

At least a monarchy makes money from tourism.
