Aussie back from a 4 month solo American road trip. I thought I would post my fav five cities and some other tidbits.
Americans are probably the warmest and nicest people I've come across (especially down South) I felt at home as soon as I landed. My travels took me right across the coutry and gave me a great view of the diverse and majestic landscape.
Here are my top 5 cities I visited.
5. Chicago, IL
Pros - Great food, amazing jazz clubs, awesome architecture, public transport was pretty good, I'm a huge Chicago sports fan so lots of history. The lake
Cons - I got conned by a black man my first day in the city. Large black men everywhere, Southside, shitty traffic. That stupid fucking bean.
4. Asheville, North Carolina
I hear a lot of people say Ashevile is pretty degenerate, but I had a great time.
Pros - laid back culture, breathtaking mountains, great beer and food, awesome bbq, southern pride/culture, fucked a lot of women
Cons - A few crazies,
3. New York, NY
New York is a city I think a person should visit at least once in their lifetime, you literally feel like you're at the epicentre of the universe.
Pros - Amazing architecture, things to do 24/7, sports culture and history, great bars, live music, central park
Cons - smells like piss, homeless and crazies everywhere, people trying to con you everywhere, too many fucking people.
2. Boston, MA
Pros - Lots of history, great beer, awesome sporting culture, city was big but not too big, was easy to get puss at the colleges, lots of great parks
Cons - too many Irish, the fucking acccent. Shitty train system.
1. Nashville, TN
Might be a bit of a surprise, but my favourite city I visited was Nashville. I absolutely adored it.
Pros - best live music in the country, great beer and bbq, so much musical history, down to earth friendly people, those golf carts that drive around the city, safe, big but not too big.
Cons - none I loved it there.

Overall I had a great fucking time and while I just detailed my top cities, my favourite moments were going to small towns and shooting the shit with the locals and experiencing the true America, Virginia, West Virginia and New England are gods country, my fav areas in the USA. A few notes
-The blacks down South are so much nicer and better than the Blacks in the large Eastern and Western cities, they just seemed more laid back and had more of that country charm and manner.
-Australia is so much like America, especially down South, warm weather, love sport and the great outdoors, hot women, love beer and food.
-Why is there so much water in your toilets?
-A bit wierd seeing some random black guys in Southern bathrooms just waiting to spray cologne on me after I had finished.
-Apart from getting lost in the Southside of Chicago, I felt safe everywhere I went. Never saw a gun, Never had any troubles.
- Overall the tipping didn't really bother me, there were a few times when I accidentally forgot though, ie Starbucks
- Australians are treated like royalty over here, everyone loves the accent and wanted to talk to me.
-Girls get wet just hearing me talk.

One part of the south that's incredibly underrated is Mobile. There are still streets where trees overhang the road and large, plantation-esque houses sit like an art piece. It's one of the most simple beauties that just doesn't get the attention it could if they really wanted tourism. I'm floored every time I pass through, and I've heavily considered trying to make my last days spent there.
Virginia is nice. Virginia Beach is kind of like a smaller city in CA, only with southern accents.
Atlanta is iffy for me. It's not the "south" people know from movies or travel shows, it's like Chicago with much nicer people and the scariest fucking escelator in the country. And be prepared to sweat like hell.
Remember though, wherever you go in the south you should take advice from the locals. Mudding may be redneck, but it's fun. Do it. Someone invites you to hunt a gator and barbeque that sucker's tail? You won't regret it. Hanging out at or near a church and a black person invites you to an outing? You're not gonna get better chicken anywhere else. Taste, smell, see, do, and fuck it all. The south is as courteous as you make it.
