When I was in highschool, there was a very tall asisan guy who was really good at basketball. Compared to olympic women teams, he was already slightly better than their best players, but he couldn't hope to reach the heel of even the worst male player in that category. Honestly, what Van Egmond says is right. You can't look at female and male [insert sport here] as in any way comparable, they're basically different disciplines. They wouldn't deserve anywhere near the same salary if they played in the same pool, but they aren't; they play against other people of their class in their separate pool and offer the same service (entertainment). There is nothing inherently wrong with them getting the same pay SO LONG AS they do the same thing (e.g. if a male team can be used to train potential new players but not the female team, then obviously the female team has to be paid less).

I did Judo for two decades and participated in the local tournaments - nothing big, they weren't even split by sex. And a fight against a woman was always a guaranteed victory, no matter how much better their technique might have been. It was like a child trying to push you away, you could just win every fight with raw strength without even trying.
