>>
My own opinion. I do not foresee the Kurds successfully liberating al-raqqa. The city itself is heavily defended and Isis troops are deeply entrenched there. Kurds are not good fighters, their strength come from the coalition air strikes and better trained foreign fighters... what I do foresee is the Kurds being repelled, but a large mass of casualties on the part of both sides.
>>
>>74994800
>their strength come from the coalition air strikes

Don't all western armies fight this way anyway?
Here in italy they're investing crapload of money into the f35 program.

Let me give an example, during the battle for ayn al-arab, Kurds were desperate in holding the town. Huge numbers of Kurds and foreigners were pouring into the town and the Islamic state was still advancing and it was obvious that the border town would eventually fall. The tide turned once the coalition air strikes occurred and all successive battles have, effectively, been the result of air strikes. Dozens to hundreds of Islamic state troops are often killed off before and during the battles to liberate villages and towns in Syria, which is why Kurds have advanced as much as they have. If you look at old territorial maps, 2013-2014 specifically, you will notice Isis was advancing against everyone, especially Kurds.

>Four helicopters and 20 lorries were destroyed in a series of fires inside the T4 base last week, the images from intelligence company Stratfor suggest.
>"An entire combat helicopter unit was wiped out - four helicopters in total - as well as some damage to some of the Syrian planes on the airport, and also very notably a logistic depot, likely one that was being used to supply those specific combat helicopters."
>Mr Tack described Amaq's account as "very accurate", and suggested the helicopters and depot were destroyed by IS attacks.

no chance of a us-backed offensive failing. coalition support capabilities are much better than russian. also since us troops are actively involved they are going to provide them with everything they can.
that goes for the russians too, they were involved in lattakia to some extend which is a very hard terrain to fight. and still managed to clear the whole place out because they had absolute priority in air strikes/support.

This desu, they are probably just captured, but it is also much more likely they are using the SAA variant of their MRLS which is some Russian/Soviet design, those are quite popular all over Syria.

Don't know if they trucked over any captured American hardware, even an MRLS is a big prize and they wouldn't want to risk it being hit while moving it across the desert.

http://biblehub.com/bsb/revelation/2.htm

22Behold, I will cast her onto a bed of sickness, and those who commit adultery with her will suffer great tribulation unless they repent of her deeds. 23Then I will strike her children dead, and all the churches will know that I am the One who searches minds and hearts, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.

24But I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned the so-called deep things of Satan: I will place no further burden upon you. 25Nevertheless, hold fast to what you have until I come. 26And to the one who is victorious and continues in My work until the end, I will give authority over the nations. 27He will rule them with an iron scepter and shatter them like potterya—just as I have received authority from My Father. 28And I will give him the morning star.

>In wartime Syria, economic survival frequently trumps politics and ideology, prompting foes to trade across front lines that have carved up the nation. It is up to a band of gutsy and resourceful truck drivers to make that happen—to crisscross the battlefields delivering food, oil, cars, appliances, even livestock, in some of the most dangerous commercial transactions in the world.

>The war has effectively partitioned Syria into four nominally autonomous regions. The Assad regime, the Kurds, Islamic State and an array of rebel groups all control territory. All need to trade with each other, even if it means strengthening a rival’s hold on regional power.

>“If something is being sent from Latakia province, it might need to cross regime and Nusra Front and Free Syrian Army and ISIS checkpoints,” said a Kurdish manager of a Syrian-Iraqi border crossing. “By the time it gets to us, it might not be worth it.”

I could envision something like Oregon Trail.

>You outran the ISIS convoy, but now you don't have enough fuel to get to your destination. You starve to death in the desert.
