I visited some prisons when I was a student in law and criminology. Working as LEO today, I went quite a few times to drop convicts.

(For those who don't know: in America jail is for misdemeanors/sentencing under 1 year. Prison is for felonies. Jails can be administered by municipalities. Prisons are administered by the state or the Fed.).
