Sew large heavy washers into a detachable strap on a backpack. If you do it right it will be hard to spot without a very through inspection. I would do it to the chest strap and undue the light side so if trouble happens you just have to undue one buckle to get to your blackjack. Also, it's hard to conceal weapons and grab them if you get assaulted in a small place where people will naturally walk around and pass you all the time unless you're suspiciously grabbing your weapon all the time.
My advice: learn non-competitive kick boxing, muay thai or kombatan if you get the chance (remember the philipinos are the most powerful race in the world). Learn to fight with distance, elbows/knees and on the floor. You need to avoid being dropped to the ground but most fights end up there. Always try to keep people at a leg distance in a fight but obviously that's unlikely in a social enviorement (in a public place very likely to be crowded) so elbows and knees will be your best bet to try to knock someone down.

I have been thinking about weaving a lead weight (for fishing) into some paracord and then weaving a quick 2-3 feet long handle into something that looks like a normal key ring.
Totally non conspicuous when in keychain mode but when you need it you just pull the string out and get a 2-4-6 feet long ''whip'' (just weave it in 3 fast release sections) that can crack a skull if you need to. Swing it fast enough and it will have the same kinetic energy as handgun. Extendable batons are really neat if you put in 15 minutes of practice everyday. If you get a baton, make sure to get one that's strong and made of solid steel, not the flimsy plastic bullshit.
Knives are meh-tier because there are lots of laws restricting blade length and drawing blood always gets legal matters messy.
Pepper spray is borderline-useless and pretty much a placebo.

Go to your local hardware store and buy a can of wasp spray. It's some nasty shit, has a great range, and is legal to buy at least here in the USA.
Also carry some caffeine pills with you in case the shit blows back on you. Tape them to the bottom of the can and remember to take the can with you.
Most important though is the will to use it. Many people do not act to their full capacity because they misjudge the severity of the situation. Either you trust your instincts or you don't. If you trust them and are willing to act with full force, then go for it. If not, then you're asking for trouble that comes from a false sense of security.
