Because a shitload of really high IQ people are mentally retarded/autistic, like the grand chessmaster from Russia who talked about Trump, it's clear he is a genius, but that doesn't directly transalte into politics/social issues. with autistic people it even diminishes their social awareness. Also, a lot of people with very high IQs place all their eggs in one basket (mathemathics for example) and therefore are possible even less aware of politics and easier to be influenced.
