Yeah, we haven't had any bad storms since Katrina, and we only really got the tail end of that, since then, it's been very calm weather here for the past 11 years.
My family was actually going to go off island and stay at our home in the states during Ivan, but decided against it as we didn't think the storm would be that bad.
Thankfully, our house was hurricane resistant and quite well elevated, but a lot of the older homes nearby got completely destroyed.
It's pretty crazy how powerful hurricanes can be, I remember seeing a 70ft boat get blown into our swimming pool by the wind - we thought it was going to hit the house at one point.
