There's an odd part to the drug debate that doesn't seem to realize the majority of effects are from naturally occurring transmitter substances just thrown off balance.
You feel good from many drugs the same way you would getting a blowjob.
So much of the drug debate seems centred around drugs as foreign substances that change something about being human, instead of trigger events that unlock something naturally occurring.
It might seem like nitpicking but a lot of the way people talk about drug use is framed by this misunderstanding of it as something external. And so, also, non drug induced states that lead to the same places, like exhaustion and fasting in the case of hallucinations, are misunderstood too.
After being up three days straight during military service I was having more auditory hallucinations than I ever did tripping. The idea that people had been present and said things kept coming up (rather than outright visions of them doing so) to the point I was genuinely confused if I was remembering it happening or if it never did.
That, according to the drug debate, was a natural experience and "shit that happens when you get too tired".
If you seek that out by not sleeping, it's okay, but weird. It's certainly not illegal, even though the damage to your body using the exhaustion and depravation routes are higher than ingesting hallucinogens.

Psychedelics are like a soul shower. I don't think everybody NEEDS them, but most people should give them a chance. If you feel a pull towards them, go for it, just be safe. Use reliable vendors, not street dealers. You know what I mean.
But like anything, too much is always bad. Always start with low doses if it's your first time trying a drug. Except DMT, take a breakthrough dose. You won't regret it.

Protips:

Example: Song on playlist you thought you would love on LSD starts playing. Song makes you feel anxious. change it and put on whatever you feel like listening to. Let go of what you thought was a good idea and listen to what you're thinking in the moment.
Mushrooms:
TEA IS KEY. Lemon tek is also incredibly helpful, because it turns what is usually a 4-7 hour trip into a 2-4 hour. It does this by turning the psyilocybin into psilocin, which usually occurs in your stomach, inside of the lemon juice so you skip a whole process.
How to do it:
Chop up mushrooms into tiny pieces in a shot glass using scissors. Then soak in lemon juice for twenty minutes. The shrooms should be sitting in the juice up to the top of your dose.
After it sits for twenty minutes, prepare an herbal tea, preferably with ginger in it. Right after you pour the boiling hot water into your cup with the tea, add the mushrooms. Let them sit on the top of your tea for another twenty minutes, then either scoop them out or use a sieve.
This method is my favorite because you climax much faster than without it, you get much less nauseous because there's no mushroom plant matter sitting in your stomach, and the trip is much more condensed. Be warned, use only 50-65% of your normal dose. Lemon tek makes mushroom trips much shorter, but also much stronger. I can lemon tek 1.5 grams and it feels like I took an eighth, but the trip ends within four hours.
Have plenty of weed handy for both LSD and mushrooms. It's a necessity.

This is mostly bullshit. There are three groups of hallucinogenic drugs: deliriants, psychedelics and dissociatives. Dissociatives (Ketamine, salvia) put you into a dream-like state. Sure, you can figure things out from your subconscious, but the trips are usually very misleading and arbitrary. Deliriants (datura and stuff) are drugs that make your brain go haywire. They are generally very bad for you both physically and mentally. Psychedelics (weed, LSD) are drugs that primarily fuck with your short term memory and amygdala and thus your hallucinations stem from confusion of the conscious and intervention of subconscious to fill the gaps. But do you know what they all have in common? They relativize your world view and increase probability of psychosis.

Actually I have tried it and been using it every once in a while until I learned some facts and got some perspective on my trips.
If I wrote exactly how they work it would take too fucking long.
But the point is, trips serve no real purpose if endured only once. You might only learn something if you do it repeatedly.
If you do it repeatedly, however, you risk many irreversible psychological conditions, such as HPPD, but you already know this, I assume.
The real question is: is it worth it?
All in all, when you're high, your conscious is not communicating with God or spirits or whatever people believe. It's actually communicating with arbitrary parts of your subconscious, and at best they make for an interesting experience, at worst, they can mislead you and fuck up your brain for good.
The only way it's a good idea to use them is if you're willing to sacrifice everything to see the truth.

The "filling the gaps" part is wrong. That's how dissociatives work. Your brain fills the gaps left there by the dissociation of your brain from your senses.
Psychedelics are "active" hallucinogens, in the sense that they imitate serotonin and in a way "overclock" the brain, making areas of it communicate that usually wouldn't.

Tried mushrooms twice to see what all the fuzz was about. Wasn't anything special though tbqh. Was pretty comfy when putting on some music and enjoying dreamlike close-eyed visuals with magnified, more vivid, imagination.
Didn't get anything out of it that I couldn't with normal self-examination.

In my experience? LSD is great for one that can think, it doesn't disorient and can enhance every sense. DMT for me taught nothing, though I had saw some thing on DMT that went like this

5-I cant put a name to it.
