"Remember that life is made up of loyalty: loyalty to your friends; loyalty to things beautiful and good; loyalty to the country in which you live; loyalty to your King; and above all, for this holds all other loyalties together, loyalty to God."
Queen Mary (of Teck)

Can we have a monarchist book club? We'll vote on which books to read first, but before that we'll nominate, so name whatever monarchist literature (philosophical, poetic, fiction, whatever) you would like to be on the poll, and when I get another thread up in a month or something, I will have all the nominated options on it, and we'll vote (lacking a monarch to decide for us) which work to start with. We'll do it mostly on /lit/, here is the thread
>>>/lit/8066997

Here are some of my nominations

De Monarchia, by Dante
Eikon Basilike, by King Charles
Nihilism: The Root of the Revolution of the Modern Age, by Father Seraphim Rose
The Henriad

Do you really think /pol/ right now is a good place to try and create a book thread for Monarchism?
I mean, do we even have any threads that ever discuss the topic?

Charles Maurras...
>>
>>74701844
Charles-Marie-Photius Maurras (French: [ʃaʁl moʁas]; 20 April 1868 – 16 November 1952) was a French author, poet, and critic. He was an organizer and principal philosopher of Action Française, a political movement that was monarchist, anti-parliamentarist, and counter-revolutionary. Maurras' ideas greatly influenced National Catholicism and "nationalisme intégral".

>A major tenet of integral nationalism was stated by Maurras as "a true nationalist places his country above everything".

>A political theorist and a major intellectual influence in early 20th-century Europe, his views anticipated some of the ideas of fascism.

How can this guy claim to place his nation above EVERYTHING, and then become a collaborator with a foreign occupiers?
>>
>>74701986

> He traced this decline further back, to the Enlightenment and the Reformation; he described the source of the evil as "Swiss ideas", a reference to the adopted nation of Calvin and the birth nation of Rousseau. Maurras further blamed France's decline on "Anti-France", which he defined as the "four confederate states of Protestants, Jews, Freemasons and foreigners". Antisemitism and anti-Protestantism were common themes in his writings. He believed that the Reformation, the Enlightenment, and the eventual outcome of the French Revolution had all contributed to individuals valuing themselves more than the nation, with consequent negative effects on the latter, and that democracy and liberalism were only making matters worse.

Father Seraphim Rose is better

>The Liberal view of government, as one might suspect, is an attempt at compromise between these two irreconcilable ideas. In the 19th century this compromise took the form of "constitutional monarchies," an attempt--again--to wed an old form to a new content; today the chief representatives of the Liberal idea are the "republics" and "democracies" of Western Europe and America, most of which preserve a rather precarious balance between the forces of authority and Revolution, while professing to believe in both.

>It is of course impossible to believe in both with equal sincerity and fervor, and in fact no one has ever done so. Constitutional monarchs like Louis Philippe thought to do so by professing to rule "by the Grace of God and the will of the people"--a formula whose two terms annul each other, a fact as equally evident to the Anarchist as to the Monarchist.

>Now a government is secure insofar as it has God for its foundation and His Will for its guide; but this, surely, is not a description of Liberal government. It is, in the Liberal view, the people who rule, and not God; God Himself is a "constitutional monarch" Whose authority has been totally delegated to the people, and Whose function is entirely ceremonial. The Liberal believes in God with the same rhetorical fervor with which he believes in Heaven. The government erected upon such a faith is very little different, in principle, from a government erected upon total disbelief, and whatever its present residue of stability, it is clearly pointed in the direction of Anarchy.

Isn't Heinlein more of a fascist?
>>
>>74704407
No Heinlein is firmly libertarian in outlook, and f

The meme that he is a fascist mostly comes from the movie "Starship Troopers" which was actually the work of a frothing-at-the-mouth european socialist who admitted he hadn't even read Heinlein's work through.

Heinlein believes in old-fashioned "manly virtues" - he's a militant libertarian, and a practical one, not an idealogue or a pacifist - which is why he triggers leftists (despite having some radically liberal ideas in some areas.)

Libertarianism is even further away from monarchism than fascism is.

>Libertarianism is even further away from monarchism than fascism is.
This is the conventional belief but two prominent libertarians who argued otherwise come to mind immediately. RAW ( >>74704202 ) and Heinlein, who in the Moon is a Harsh Mistress, argued (through the character of Stuart Reno LaJoie aka Stu) with some force that the government type most compatible with individual liberty would be a Constitutional Monarchy.
>>
>>74707666
Wilson is anarchist. Heinlein talks about a society governed by the military, not a monarch, at least in Starship Troopers.

Book recommendations:

The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli
The Song of Roland
Liberty or Equality b Kuehnelt-Leddin
Patriarcha; or, The Natural Power of Kings by Sir Robert Filmer
History of Luis Philippe by John S.C. Abbott

There is also a monarchist group on facebook. I can check the recommended reading list there.

>Wilson is anarchist
The line between libertarian and anarchist can be a fine one and hardly worth arguing. Wilson was a founding member of the LP in his state and clearly identified as libertarian many, many times.

Heinlein wrote a LOT of stuff and he was not an idealogue that included political texts for their own sake so there is little real hint of his political beliefs in much of his work. The Moon is a Harsh Mistress is one of the rare exceptions, if you haven't read it you really don't have any basis for discussing his politics.

>Trump monarchy when?
Never, because one day we will have an actual /pol/ack in office, and a monarchy would fuck up our infiltration.
Remember, 4chan started in 2008, pol had it's beginnings in /new/ only a little while after.
That means soon, the new generation will have a sizeable proportion raised on /pol/
As the baby boomer politicians die off and are replaced, people from 4chan will inevitably find some cracks to slip in through
and so the revolution will begin

Yeah you're right, i dont know why i thought 2008.
But 2003 was 13 years ago, by the time the next election comes around, the kids born in 2003 will be able to vote.
An entire generation raised with 4chan.
What will that do to our society?
Will the memes we create today have longer lasting repercussions than simply "meme magic"?
