That's an interesting way of looking at it, out of nuclear destruction, new progress and space colonization.
I still like the idea though of a world progressively getting more and more uninhabitable after 2 or 3 nuclear exchanges over the course of several decades, and near the end society is collapsing and people are just throwing nukes around and humanity dies out having never gone further than the moon, as a kind of poignant reminder of how easily and slowly we can destroy ourselves.
