My grandpa came back pretty disillusioned with everything. He'd rant about how full of shit politicians are, he refused to vote, and told me no grandson of his would throw his life away for the Army when I expressed interest in the possibility when I was younger.
I think he may have been extremely red-pilled but didn't know how to express it. I know he had a brother who died in the war, and his own father was a German immigrant who thought his sons were fighting on the wrong side. There was a lot of resentment there that never got resolved.
