>>74601863
Someone has never been on the ocean.

It doesn't matter how tall or short they build it, you can easily see another ship on the horizon. The point is that it's rendered invisible to radar, which means other ships can't detect it until it's 20 miles out or so (which is the sightline limit to the horizon), at which point it's close enough to kill you.

Warships are not like tanks, they can kill you from 10 miles away, even back in the 40's they could do that.

They were just a terrible idea from the beginning. The idea was if the adversary shot a missile at you while you were running away, it would skid across the deck and up off the ramp. It's only ever worked in exercises and newer missiles will explode when they reach a certain distance anyways.

>>
>>74604265
See this: >>74602870

That airplane in the middle is a stealth bomber. Do you think it's useless because it's slightly bigger?

Of course planes can spot it, they could spot it even if it was 1/2 the size. But ideally the enemy won't have planes in the staging area (out in the middle of the fucking ocean). Yeah it might get caught, but if your enemy relies on radar they can get majorly fucked over by a sneak attack.

This will force the enemy to visually scan their surroundings. They'll have to send out sorties of planes constantly to search for trouble.

Such a ship could be very useful, especially in a nuclear scenario. You can sneak this thing right up to the enemy shoreline and unload

Nice meme

Our military spending went down to 0.8% of GDP from 2% in the 1980s.
The population is strongly against any sort of measure, the war is regarded as one of the worst historical mistakes
And we have been a democracy since 1983. (The only South American democracy that tried and jailed its military dictators)

We will never invade the Falklands

Does your media direct all your hate to majority-white Argentina so you don't notice the mudslimes invading you?

As a country gets worse it moves from shitposting to shit posting, which is why Australia is still #1 and Canada/America is getting slowly worse, while modern India has always been complete shit and the quality of their shit posting shows this.

Alright, I let my autism shine a couple of months ago whenever I brought this ship up on /biz/. I know almost everything about it.

The bad thing about is that they're highly expensive to produce, so they're only making about three of them; however, the Navy is planning to use it as a display of power to the world.

The ship is hard to spot within the normal range of modern ship to ship weaponry whenever using sight, and it's so hard to track through radar that the Navy is having to temporarily retrofit them with objects that make them appear much larger on radar.

The stealth capabilities aren't the main selling point. The sonar on it is better than sub hunter ships and the engine in it produces ten times the amount of power than the largest destroyers.

The Navy is planning on utilizing this power by fitting rail guns onto the ship before 2020, which have a huge fucking range and are almost impossible, if not impossible, to track.

The only scary thing about it is that the ship can be fully controlled from a ground station in America... So hopefully China can't hack into it or some shit.

Ramps can't accommodate heavier jets. Their purpose is to get flights off the deck without as much runway space.

Any actual air force uses catapults now, which just check the fucking thing at blazing speeds, giving it enough lift to launch without a full airport-sized runway, regardless of weight.

Its radar and sonar stealth not visual stealth that they are referring to. Coupled with ECM and advanced missile systems and solid state lasers most conventional weapons wont be able to target it or get close enough to hit it. All attacks will have to come from manual targeting. Much like stealth air craft aren't invisible to the eye just guided missiles and radar. Take it from an EW tech. We can make radar see anything we like or nothing at all.

Do you think a carrier will sit in the shore while it throws planes out?

Aside from Russian meme fleets, most carriers in the world have carrier groups designed specifically to defend the carrier while it spits out planes.
Do you even know what EWar is for?

You know thats one of the cool things about the catapult, they can throw heavy planes like the F35 with a full fuel tank without wasting much of it on the first 3 seconds of its mission.

You are so fucking retarded. May as well read two times the fucking wikipedia at least, which is the only thing you know about the subject of course. From the link you posted:

Global Positioning System and communications satellites orbit at higher altitudes of 20,000 km (12,000 mi) and 36,000 km (22,000 mi) respectively, putting them out of range of solid-fueled Intercontinental ballistic missiles. Liquid-fueled space launch vehicles could reach those altitudes, but they are more time-consuming to launch and could be attacked on the ground before being able to launch in rapid succession. The constellation of 30 GPS satellites provides redundancy where at least four satellites can be received in six orbital planes at any one time, so an attacker would need to disable at least six satellites to disrupt the network. Even if this is achieved, signal degradation only lasts for 95 minutes, leaving little time to take much decisive action, and backup inertial navigation systems (INS) would still be available for relatively accurate movement as well as laser guidance for weapons targeting. For communications, the Naval Telecommunications System (NTS) used by the U.S. Navy uses three elements: tactical communications among a battle group; long-haul communications between shore-based forward Naval Communications Stations (NAVCOMSTAs) and deployed afloat units; and strategic communication connecting NAVCOMSTAs with National Command Authorities (NCA). The first two elements use line-of-sight (25–30 km (13–16 nmi; 16–19 mi)) and extended line-of-sight (300–500 km (160–270 nmi; 190–310 mi)) radios respectively, so only strategic communications are dependent on satellites.

While it has been suggested that a country intercepting the satellites of another country in a conflict, namely between China and the United States, could seriously hinder the latter's military operations, the ease of shooting down orbiting satellites and their effects on operations has been questioned. Although satellites have been successfully intercepted at low orbiting altitudes, the tracking of military satellites for a length of time would be less accurate than previous commercial or defective intercepts that did not employ any defensive measure like simple inclination changes. Depending on the level of tracking capabilities, the interceptor would have to pre-determine the point of impact while compensating for the satellite's lateral movement and the time for the interceptor to climb and move; U.S. intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) satellites orbit at about 800 km (500 mi) high and move at 7.5 km/s (4.7 mi/s), so a Chinese Intermediate-range ballistic missile would need to compensate for 1,350 km (840 mi) of movement in the three minutes it takes to boost to that altitude.

Using the exact same procedures the Navy already used in 2008 when they launched an SM-3 to destroy a low orbit weather satellite. If the target is in geostationary or Molniya orbit, maybe some enhancements are needed. LEO is bait for the Navy.

That's not even off the table entirely mind you. There are means of occluding your silhouette such that you can redirect light from behind you to shrink your appearance ahead. It looks like a blurry mirage. There's also small cameras and projections literally recording the back of something and playing it to the front. It's not really cost effective, but there are small versions being prototyped in japan at the least.

The goal isn't really complete concealment anyway. The goal is to just make whatever it is almost impossible to accurately identify.

Satellites move in predictable orbits or are geo-stationary. They would be fairly easy to take out even just by using other satellites. Changing the orbit of any satellite could easily put it in the orbital path of another. Its actually quite a mess up there. There is a whole department in the AF dedicated to satellite warfare and keeping them from colliding with each other and all the space junk.
>>
>>74614269
It's actually a picture of early optical camoflauge, they have a different word for it, I forget. But we used to actually paint broken horizontal lines on ships because people looking through telescopes would be confused by the actual length and depth of the craft leading to mis calculations that may save the ship or cause misreporting of distances. It had debatable efficacy if I recall but it was the precursor to digital camo.

Guys seriously, you are not going to shot down a military satellite no matter what. Even if balistics were precise enough to hit a military satellite, the satellite is not going to just stay there in the orbig waiting for the missile.

Its just not possible because there is no way to correct the trajectory fast enough to overcount the countermeasures. Unless you use some sort of instantaneous laser, but that's science-fiction.
