Yeah, they are the same Slavophones of the Ottoman period as those that created Bulgaria (meaning a composite of Slavs, Bulgars and Thracians). That true but there are some details left out. The region known today as FYROM was mainly Bulgarian during the Ottoman Empire as Ottoman documents from the 19th century state themselves. After 1878 the region was in dispute between Greeks, Serbs and Bulgarians who all tried to brainwash the local population into presenting themselves as their own ethnicity (mainly trying to melt Bulgarians into Greeks or Serbs).
During the Yugoslav era it was imposed on the people in this region that they weren't Bulgarians/Serbs/Greeks but actually "Macedonians" and thus a language called "Macedonian" was also invented. Artificially that is.
Its a lot of brainwashing and thats really really simplified in my post.
Also Moldova had a existing country during the middle ages. It was one of three wallachian countries and often either a subject nation to the Russian Tsar or the Ottoman Sultan but they existed. Unlike Macedonia.
