When children aren't spanked they never learn to respect the authority of the Father and the Mother and learn only to respect the violence of the State through indoctrination in the school system, where teachers and professors become surrogate parents, and through the media, where parents are portrayed as stupid fools who aren't cool and hip and should be disrespected.
Spanking teaches children that the authority in their lives is their parents, and they are to be obeyed and respected as the sole authority in their lives, not the State.
