What makes the confidence in Trump winning different than your confidence in Romney winning?

And 200 years ago no one dreamed of plowing fields with automated equipment, steam engines, assembly lines, electricity and flight.

You once again are using the fallacy that what we have right now won't change and that humanity will not adapt.

That's what humanity is. It's adaptation. New tech, new resources, new forms of energy and in a billion years when the sun dies we'll find a new home.

Forcing humans to pay a carbon tax does not encourage innovation straya.
>>
>>74472446

Unlike Romney, Trump is actually trying the win. Also, he's running against Hillary, who is an autistic cunt, instead of Obama, who could act like a decent human being when it suited him.

Also I never thought Romney was going to win.

You can't make something out of nothing anon.

Sooner or later you're going to have to accept that there is a hard cap on resources that you can't just magic your way around. Whether's its iron, platinum, or pure energy, doesn't matter. All the innovation in the world cannot make something out of nothing.
>>
>>74472747
That's the exact same line of thought humans had 100 years ago during a population boom mass starvation and droughts around the planet. Everyone thought we couldn't support more humans.

Then we learned how to irrigate.

Resources will run out like the sun will run out. Don't worry about it, were likely to kill ourselves off or die from a meteor, or super volcano long before that ever comes to fruition. Not to mention advanced space travel and mining.

You have no vision.

Are you fucking retarded?

Irrigation is literally millennia old. It wasn't invented in fucking 1916 you stupid cunt.

It probably sounded impressive when you typed it out - I can sense your optimism and "BELIEVE IN SCIENCE!" attitude from here - but holy shit that's probably the most retarded thing I've ever read. Even if you were trying to type 1000 you'd still be so fucking wrong, and 10,000 would be way too far back. There's l i t e r a l l y no excuse. Human prosperity is based on self-deception, and here's the proof. You don't know anything about what people thought 100 years ago or how technology has advanced. If you wanted to make an actual point you could have mentioned how Marxist revolutionary theory failed because of the unforeseen quality of life improvements which basically nobody predicted, but you don't know Marx and you don't know history and you don't know why Marxist-Leninism and the concept of the 'vanguard' came into being, so you can't cite any of this.

>You have no vision.
Innovation postpones this problem, it doesn't solve it. You just can't see more than 100 years ahead, just like you can't see more than 100 behind.

Kill yourself.

I'm going to leave you with a poem now. I suggest you read it - you might learn something. It'll be in the next post, because this has too many characters.

A man has told me god is good,
and stands above all men,
that he will never cast us forth,
though drenched with lust and sin,
That though we heed him little,
and pursue our own accord
he will not seek our bane nor yet,
unsheath his deadly sword
that he forgives excesses
and will not our prayers reject.

There was rumor in Gomorrah,
to that very same effect.

A friend avers that government,
has all our cares in mind.
And will not neglect the comfort of
the poor, the halt, the blind.
he maintains unreservedly,
his faith in policy.
to bring the fruits of honor to
the strong the just, the free.
he says the great in power seek
the profit of all men

It was mentioned in Treblinka,
but I did not heed it then.

>Technology will save us,
>i have heard a stranger say.
>The wonderment of science,
>skill, and tools will win the day.
>Our comfort and our safety
>we may leave to wise devices.
>And men who build and train them up,
>will coddle all our vices.
>they’ll see the future clearly
>and avert all waiting dooms.

>I think I heard it spoken in
>Titanic’s smoking rooms.

The forgiveness of the strong is great,
I’m sure most men agree.
The wisest and the best of us
will surely all be free.
the bold men, wise in letters
with their eye on public weal.
will never be cast out or forced
their knowledge to conceal.
Time alters soon the hearts of kings,
and all will be put right.

I heard it in the Gulag
almost every single night.

So go forth with the banner
of redemption wafting high
and shout the slogan “Liberty!”
in land and sea and sky.
Of justice, peace, forgiveness, love,
proclaim the coming reign.
And cry the truth to power,
and the vanity of gain
That mercy always triumphs,
and that men will all be free.

Go tell them in Gomorrah,
but you didn’t come from me.

I was referring to irrigation and farming innovations of the 20's and 30's in Europe and Russia in particular millions died from famine and droughts. International aid was sent in and agriculture was booming in North America. The Great Plains all the way from Texas to Canada was over farmed and top soil erosion was a huge problem. When the rain stopped they couldn't keep up with basic ancient irrigation practices. Millions were displaced and killed during the dust bowl. When they figured out how to do mass irrigation and protect the top soil through plow rows to protect from wind erosion and deep water wells they could sustain farming on a scale the world has never seen. These are some of the things that allow the human race to grow and adapt and it wasn't a socialist style economy that favored these innovations (see Russian 1920 famine and Mao later with China) it was a capitalist style economy.

If people like you were the only ones on this planet we wouldn't have light bulbs the Internet or basic steam engines. You're pathetic and should be living on some communal Amish farm somewhere instead of living off the riches of innovation from capitalist society.

>I was referring to irrigation and farming innovations of the 20's and 30's
Then why the fuck didn't you refer to them specifically instead of your original vague nebulous bullshit? Probably because your extensive knowledge of the subject comes from furious attempts to summon up an excuse on Wikipedia for why you were so patently retarded, but that's just a wild stab in the dark guess.

>If people like you were the only ones on this planet we wouldn't have light bulbs the Internet or basic steam engines
Jeeze, now you're assmad. You don't like what I'm saying, so now you attempt to paint me as somebody you don't have to listen to at all so you can summarily dismiss my points. I'm not anti-technology. I'm not anti-innovation. I just don't have this stupid rose-tinted view of science where it always solves all our problems. Antibiotics are great, but my grandmother still died of an infected hip wound after surgery. Vaccines get my dick rock hard, but my brother's girlfriend's sister died after an adverse reaction to one when she was very small. Cars are amazing, but you don't know gore until you've had to scrape a family of five out of the front of a semi-trailer with a fucking spoon. I'm not saying we should roll back all technology because I just fucking love pneumonia and polio, as much as you want to believe otherwise.

All I'm saying - my single point, the one that you refuse to address - is that you can't make something out of nothing. I've got no grand sweeping statements on 'vision' because vision is self-deception that people use to make you wave flags and beat drums like the dumb little ideologue that you are. Infinite growth in a world of finite resources is not a solution. All the innovation in the world will never solve this basic contradiction. Sooner or later things will run out, and you will be sorry that you never learned that potassium fertilizer is the basis of all agriculture, and we only have enough left for 20-40 years.
